Gemini collects ChatGPT and Claude data in one step

With the new feature it offers for Gemini, Google collects all the history accumulated in different artificial intelligence services in one place. ChatGPT, claude With data transferred from and similar platforms, the system recognizes the user from the first interaction and shapes its responses accordingly.

This update artificial intelligence memory transfer It places its subject directly at the center of the user experience. Because there is no need to re-explain past preferences when switching to a new AI service.

However, Google leaves this system, which works on personal data, to direct user control. Transferred content can be selected, deleted and edited.

With the new feature, data accumulated on platforms such as ChatGPT and Claude can be transferred directly to Gemini.

The transfer process is not only a technical data migration process, but also ensures that the context is preserved. Interests, past conversations and personal preferences are transferred to the system as a single whole.

In this way, Gemini is able to maintain habits previously established on different platforms. There is no need for repetitive commands during use.

A specific set of commands is used in the transfer process. This command asks the existing AI system to create a structured summary about the user.

The resulting output is collected under certain categories:

  • Demographic information
  • Interests and preferences
  • Relationships
  • Projects and plans
  • Instructions given in advance

When this data is transferred to Gemini, the system starts working directly with a ready-made profile.

Google Gemini offers memory transfer in two stages

In the first stage, the existing AI platform analyzes past conversations and creates a comprehensive summary. This summary clearly reveals the user’s behavior and preferences.

In the second stage, this data is transferred to the Gemini interface and added to the system with the “Add memory” option. Thus, all information becomes directly active.

In addition, chat history can also be exported. The ZIP file downloaded via the data export option on the ChatGPT side can be uploaded to Gemini.

Similarly, on Claude’s side, past conversations can be selected, downloaded and added to the system.

This feature is not available to all users. No access in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

However, the system only works on personal Google accounts. Work, school and supervised accounts cannot use this feature.

There is also an age limit. You must be 18 years of age to use the system.

This step by Google highlights an approach that accelerates the transition between artificial intelligence services. Previously, Claude had deployed a similar method of memory transfer.

Thus, the process of moving data between different platforms begins to become standard. Users can move more flexibly between their preferred AI services.
