Xiaomi Mijia 4K, Extreme and Cheapest GoPro Competition

And the long awaited Xiaomi sports camera arrived, the brand new Xiaomi Mjia 4K action camera, a camera designed and developed with the sole aim of beating the GoPro cameras, will it succeed?

Considered the first sports camera of Xiaomi’s Mijia division, since the Xiaomi YI or Xiaomi YI 4K, were developed by the company Yi Technology, being Xiaomi who only distributes them to the rest of the world. So after the development and authentic success of Xiaomi Mijia 360, now comes the camera to beat, Xiaomi Mijia 4K.

Xiaomi MIJIA 4K with touch screen and unbeatable price

In just a few hours from the announcement of its sale, the Xiaomi 4K Mijia has created a great stir among the numerous technological means and it is not for less.

With a technical specifications of infarct, design and especially a very very low price, Xiaomi launches to the market one of the sports cameras that more damage can do in the average range to GoPro, SJCAM or the same Yi.

Technical specifications Xiaomi Mijia Camera Mini 4K

We go directly to what interests us and is that the specs Xiaomi Mijia 4K promise and much. We see it better in table format:

Price See Price

As we see, Xiaomi Mijia Action Camera does not skip on specifications and is located, despite its price, in the highest area of sports cameras.

We started with a Sony Exmor IMX317 8MP sensor, used in the model no less than Sony ActionCam FDR-X3000, something bigger and that benefits the Xiaomi 4K of Mijia for the capture in low light.

We continue with the chipset or processor of Xiaomi Mijia 4K, which has the famous Ambarella A12 and that offers good results in powerful mid-range and high-end models such as Firefly 8S, SJCAM SJ7 Star or Thieye T5e.

In the lens section, we find a focal of F2.8 with a field of view or FOV 145º in the Xiaomi 4K Mijia, somewhat lower than usual in sports cameras, 170º, but that will undoubtedly eliminate the dreaded “Fisheye effect” or “barrel effect” of many shots.

Design Xiaomi Mijia

As we saw in the Xiaomi Mijia 360, the first truly Xiaomi camera and a sales success, the design is another of the most powerful sections.

If these days you want to get attention, the technical specifications of an action camera are important, but the design can not be left behind.

The dimensions of Xiaomi Mijia 4K are 71.5 × 42.7 × 29.5 mm and weighing 99 grams. In our opinion, the elongated design of your screen directly affects the width of this camera, although perhaps we draw more attention the 99 grams of weight, something high for our opinion.

With a single button at the top, like Yi 4K or Yi 4K+, we will turn on and shoot our shots from the top, but all adjustments and controls will be made from the rear touch screen.

On the left side we find the microUSB connection, despite the trend in the use of USB Type-C, finding on the top a speaker and on the front the lens and a status LED.

It will be at the bottom, where we will find the battery door and microSD card, as well as a standard anchor for 1/4 “tripod.

Touch Screen Xiaomi Mijia 4K

Without a doubt, one of the great novelties is the spectacular screen that this Action Camera Xiaomi 4K mounts in its back part.

With no less than 2.4 inches, this touchscreen is the largest of all sports cameras, being above the 2.19 “Yi 4K 2” or GoPro Hero 5 and many others.

Battery

Apart from the spectacular screen, another highlight of the specs Xiaomi Mijia 4K is the monstrous battery it mounts.

With no less than 1450mAh, it stands above new battery of Yi 4K and Yi 4K + with 1400mAh or GoPro hero 5 with only 1120 mAh battery.

According to Xiaomi, this battery would be able to grant up to 2 full hours of 4K video recording to 30fps native and if we lowered to 1080p Full HD we would reach the figure of 3 hours of recording. Simply spectacular.

Video and Photography

As it could not be less seeing the previous features of Xiaomi Mijia 4K, the captures both in video and in photography you reach high-end sports cameras. In the section of the video we have:

  • 4K (3840 x 2160p) at 30 fps (native)
  • 2.5K (2560 x 1440) at 30fps
  • 1080p (1920 x 1080p) FHD up to 100 fps
  • 720p (1280 x 720p) up to 200 fps

Spectacular figures in video, which however clashed a bit with the figures of photography, since we will only get to capture 8MPs leaving us in a 16: 9 format without reaching 4: 3.

Image Stabilizer

According to the manufacturer Xiaomi, the Mijia Camera Mini 4K has electronic stabilization of 6 axes, thanks to the Bosch gyroscope integrated of 3 axes and combined with a accelerometer of 3 axes, giving all the necessary information to the processor for its correct operation.

We will show you a video, as soon as they appear on Youtube the Xiaomi Mijia 4K test.

Shooting modes

The capture modes of Xiaomi Cam Mijia 4K are as follows:

  • Video
  • Time-Lapse Video
  • Slow Motion
  • Loop Recording, loop recording
  • Video + Photography
  • Photography
  • Timer
  • Burst
  • Time-Lapse Photography

Included Accessories Xiaomi 4K

Although as we said before, Xiaomi Yi 4K is not the same brand as Yi Technology and therefore are not the same in charge of development, although the truth is that in the accessories section we found quite a few similarities with Xiaomi Yi Cam.

The shortage of accessories in Xiaomi Yi 4K was quite high and for what it seems, that emphasis prevails in the Action Camera Xiaomi Mijia 4K where we only find:

  • 4K Xiaomi Mijia Camera
  • Battery
  • MicroUSB Cable
  • Xiaomi Mijia 4K Manual

The style of the optional waterproof housing prevails, as well as other anchorage accessories, straps and even what looks like a new Xiaomi gimbal on the way.

What we can confirm is that the Xiaomi Mijia 4K does NOT connect an external microphone.
