Xiaomi launched the Mijia Mini Twin-Tub washing and drying machine in China, which combines two independent drums in a single body. The new model offers a total washing capacity of 5 kg and a drying capacity of 3 kg. China price of the product 3,499 yuanwas announced as approximately 520 dollars. The small volume machine aims to separate baby clothes from daily laundry.
Each drum can wash 2.5 kg of laundry and has a drying capacity of 1.5 kg. Separate water and air channels prevent the loads in the two sections from touching each other. Thus, light and dark colors or adult and baby clothes can be run on different programs at the same time. The independent structure of the drums makes it unnecessary to use the entire machine for small amounts of laundry.
The machine can reach 1,200 revolutions per minute during squeezing. Two 150 ml detergent reservoirs do automatic dosing according to the selected program. Among the total of 34 washing programs, there are options for delicate fabrics and baby clothes. Xiaomi states that baby mode can provide 99.99 percent disinfection, but this rate may vary depending on usage conditions.
When the washing is finished, the ventilation system reduces the humidity in the drum and limits the formation of odors. Thanks to Wi-Fi connection, programs can be selected from the Mijia application and the process can be monitored remotely. OTA updates can add new settings and program improvements to the machine’s software. The product’s page on the Xiaomi store confirms the dual-drum 5 kg structure.
Independent drums target small loads
The total capacity is not suitable for washing the weekly laundry of large families at once. On the other hand, it can save space in homes where small loads such as sportswear, underwear or baby textiles need to be kept separate. Running two programs simultaneously can shorten the time compared to two consecutive washes. Since the drying capacity is lower than the washing capacity, it may be necessary to dry a section separately at full load.
Mijia Mini Twin-Tub is currently only listed for the Chinese market. There is no official statement about sales in Europe or Türkiye. If an international version is prepared, details such as energy label, application region and electrical standard may change. Direct exchange rate conversion of the price of 3,499 yuan does not show the possible price in Türkiye.
