Xiaomi continues to work on a new Redmi model that focuses on long usage time in smartphones. According to some China-based sources, this model will come with a very large battery capacity of 9,000 mAh. In the smartphone world, models with such a high capacity battery are available in very limited numbers. For this reason, Xiaomi’s work in this direction is being watched carefully in technology circles.
According to Weibo user Digital Chat Station, known for its leaks, the device in question will not only have a large battery but also 100W fast charging support. In this way, users will be able to charge their devices in a short time despite the huge battery capacity. In addition to all this, it is claimed that Xiaomi is also working on a prototype device with a capacity of 10,000 mAh. If such a development is confirmed, unconventional solutions in terms of energy management may come to the fore in the smartphone market.
Xiaomi may present this phone as Redmi Turbo 5
Despite this, it is not yet clear under which model this device will be released. Although some Chinese technology writers suggest that this phone may be Redmi Turbo 5, these claims contradict the available information. Because in previous reliable leaks, it was stated that Turbo 5 would have a battery with a capacity of 7,500 mAh. This difference suggests that the 9,000 mAh capacity model may belong to a completely different product series.
There is no official confirmation regarding the technical specifications of the device. However, the large size of the battery capacity may also present some difficulties in terms of design. The thickness, weight and heating performance of the device will be the determining factors at this point. For now, it is a matter of curiosity what kind of engineering solution Xiaomi will offer on these issues.
Xiaomi has previously used silicon-carbon based battery technologies in some of its models. These batteries are lighter and can offer higher capacity than traditional lithium-ion batteries. However, in models shipped outside of China, the capacities of these batteries were generally reduced. This raises the question of whether the 9,000 mAh battery will be offered with the same values if it reaches global markets.
It is still unclear whether the company will take this new model outside of China. Previously, some devices with similar features were only available in China and were offered with different technical equipment in other markets. Reducing battery capacity has been a common strategy in global releases. Therefore, there may be a capacity limitation in the global version of this device.
