Xiaomi officially introduced its new flagship models today. In addition to the standard Xiaomi 15, a special version offering 20 different color options and the Diamond Edition with a striking design were also among the models introduced. Xiaomi 15, which stands out especially with its Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and powerful battery, is equipped with large storage capacity options and new materials with increased durability.
Xiaomi 15 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. While the device comes with 12 GB and 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM options, on the storage side, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB capacity UFS 4.0 storage options are offered. Xiaomi seems to have raised the bar on the performance side by not including the 8 GB RAM option it offered in the previous model.
The new Xiaomi 15 draws attention with its large battery of 5400 mAh capacity. This battery, produced with Xiaomi’s Silicon-Carbon technology, is significantly more powerful than the 4610 mAh battery used in the previous model Xiaomi 14. Despite this large battery, the dimensions of the device are kept millimeters smaller compared to the previous model. The Xiaomi 15 measures 152.3 x 71.2 x 8.08 mm and weighs 191 grams, just a few grams heavier compared to the Xiaomi 14’s 188 grams.
Xiaomi 15 has a flat OLED screen with a size of 6.36 inches and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. While the screen resolution of the device is 1200 x 2670 pixels, the maximum brightness value has been increased from 3000 nits to 3200 nits. This screen also supports DC dimming technology to protect users’ eye health. Additionally, Xiaomi 15 has a new generation ultrasonic fingerprint reader on its screen.
This model, which uses Xiaomi Dragon Crystal glass for the first time to protect the screen, is 10 times more durable than Gorilla Glass Victus, according to Xiaomi’s own laboratory tests. The frame of the device is made of high-strength aluminum alloy and has 33 percent more resistance to bending. Xiaomi 15 has an IP68 certificate and stands out with its dust and water resistant structure.
While the standard Xiaomi 15 has a glass back panel and is offered in Lilac, Green, Black and White color options, there is also a special silver model called Silver Edition. However, the Diamond Edition, which is another remarkable option, comes with a special leather covering that looks like crocodile skin. In this model, a real diamond detail with 57 surfaces and a shiny textured camera island placed on the side attract attention. The Diamond Edition will be produced in limited numbers and will only be available in Ivory Grey, Orange and Glacier White colours.
Another version that Xiaomi has just introduced is Xiaomi 15 Custom Edition. While this model offers 20 different color options that can be customized according to users’ preferences, it stands out with two different aluminum frame designs with high-gloss PVD coating. The Custom Edition will only be available with the version with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage capacity, and it is not yet known whether this model will be available for sale outside China.
