Truth Social traffic data points to decline
Other data on Truth Social’s user traffic also does not support the White House’s definition of “most popular.” According to Similarweb data cited by The New York Times, the platform’s monthly visitor number decreased by 36 percent in July compared to the same period last year. While an average of 28 million people visited Truth Social every month between January and July 2025, this average dropped to 25 million in the first seven months of 2026. It should be noted that the numbers here refer to web visitors, which is a different measurement than the number of monthly active users. Still, data reveals that Truth Social is not on par with the world’s largest social networks in terms of reach.
Truth Social has recently been trying different models to generate income. Last month, the platform launched a $100,000 monthly subscription option that reportedly provides earlier access to posts by Trump and other prominent users. This subscription model, which attracts attention with its very high price, has also brought about discussions about corruption and the possibility of buying influence, according to the news of The New York Times. Especially on a platform owned by the US President, offering early access to his posts as part of a high-priced subscription raises political and ethical questions. However, there is no comprehensive data yet on how subscriptions are reflected in the platform’s total revenues and user behavior.
The New York Times’ report also includes extensive coverage of Trump’s sharing habits on Truth Social. In addition to political statements, the US President also publishes images created with artificial intelligence on the platform. Among them is an image in which Trump’s head is placed on the body of former professional wrestler Hulk Hogan. In another AI-generated content, Trump is shown hitting an Iranian-shaped figure with a hammer carrying an American flag. Such content also shows that Trump uses Truth Social not only for official statements but as a more direct and personal communication channel with his supporters.
White House Spokesperson Davis Ingle explains the platform’s position with Trump’s direct communication style. According to Ingle, Trump’s “authentic voice” is a key reason for Truth Social’s alleged popularity. The spokesman argues that here the President can communicate directly with the American people and the rest of the world, and his statements can be conveyed without being taken out of context by the media. However, there is no independent data confirming Truth Social’s claim that it is the world’s most popular social media platform, based on global user numbers and traffic measurements.
