WhatsApp users will be able to add social media accounts to their profiles

WhatsApp is working on a new feature where users can add social media accounts to their profiles. For the time being, this innovation, which is only seen only in the iOS beta version, is expected to be presented to a wider audience in the future.

Together with the new particular, whatsApp’s “account” settings will include a special section where connections of social media profiles can be added. The current beta version only has Instagram integration, but it seems likely to support other meta platforms such as Facebook and Threads.

WhatsApp users will be able to show their social media connections to other people. These links will be displayed on the profile page with existing information such as name, phone number and “about” section. WhatsApp will develop a system similar to the privacy controls used for profile photos and allow users to determine who can see their social media accounts.

In fact, WhatsApp already offers a similar feature in business accounts. Operating accounts can show social media connections in their profiles after completing the verification process. Therefore, it is thought that a similar verification requirement for individual users can be brought. Looking at the beta features of WhatsApp before, this innovation is estimated to be officially available in a few weeks.

This new feature is considered part of WhatsApp’s work to provide a deeper integration with the meta ecosystem. Users will be able to create a more integrated digital identity by combining social media accounts on different platforms with WhatsApp profiles.

Although such integrations improve the user experience, it also brings some privacy concerns. Although WhatsApp continues to offer security measures such as end -to -end encryption, users need to be conscious about which information they share when combining their accounts.

WhatsApp was included in the Meta Account Center

WhatsApp recently provided a deeper integration with Meta’s account center. In this way, users can directly share WhatsApp status as Instagram and Facebook stories. The ability to add social media accounts to profiles can be considered as a continuation of this process. However, it is emphasized that it should be careful about what kind of consequences it will have in terms of data sharing.

WhatsApp’s ability to add social media accounts to profiles stands out as an innovation that facilitates digital identity management. However, in addition to the advantages of such integrations, the possible effects on user privacy should be taken into consideration.
