VSCO launches professional photo editing app Studio Pro

VSCO has launched its new mobile photo editing application, Studio Pro, for professional photographers on the iOS platform. According to information provided by Bloomberg, the company will release this application, which aims to create an alternative to Adobe’s professional creative tools, for macOS later in the year. The first version includes features such as bulk editing, style matching from a reference image, and photo sharing via VSCO Galleries. The company states that more advanced editing tools will be added in the coming period.

One of the highlights of Studio Pro is that it aims to make high-volume photo editing processes more efficient. According to the information shared by VSCO, the application is designed especially for professionals working with large-scale photography projects such as weddings, portraits, sports events, school shootings and similar. Since hundreds or even thousands of photos need to be processed in a short time in this type of work, batch editing tools and features that provide style consistency can offer significant advantages. In addition, the application aims to help create a more holistic view between images obtained from different shots.

VSCO One subscription packs pro tools into one package

VSCO is preparing to launch its new subscription package, VSCO One, along with Studio Pro, this month. The subscription, which carries a price tag of $500 per year, aims to reduce the need for professional users to use multiple platforms in photo editing and business management processes. The company states that photographers have to switch between different services for customer communication, content delivery and editing processes, and VSCO One tries to bring these processes under one roof.

In addition to Studio Pro, the VSCO One subscription will also include other tools offered by the company, such as Capture, Galleries, Workspace, Sites, AI Lab and Canvas. In addition, Freelance Photographer, a mentoring program for freelance photographers, will also be part of the package. Thus, subscribers will have access not only to editing tools but also to resources focused on business development and customer management.

According to the road map announced by the company, Studio Pro’s capabilities will expand further in the coming months. Additional editing tools such as RAW image support, advanced export options and image aspect ratio settings will be added to the application later. RAW support is especially noteworthy for professional photographers because this format allows for much more comprehensive color and light adjustments after shooting. Despite this, the absence of this feature in the first version of the application may be considered a deficiency for some users.

The $500 annual pricing puts VSCO directly on the same level as Adobe Creative Cloud Pro. This shows that the company is targeting photographers who manage professional workflows, not just hobby users. On the other hand, the extent to which VSCO will be preferred over Adobe’s long-established ecosystem and widely used tools such as Lightroom and Photoshop will be closely related to the developing features and user experience of Studio Pro. For now, VSCO aims to strengthen its position in the professional market with its new approach that tries to combine photo editing and business management on a single platform.
