Turkcell General Manager Ali Taha Koç responded positively to the statements of the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu about the tender calendar of fiber infrastructure and 5G technology. Dr. Koç stressed that they are ready to participate in both tenders and that this is a national responsibility. He said Turkcell will continue to aim to bring innovative technologies to the country by strengthening fiber infrastructure investments.
Dr. Ali Taha Koç, in his assessment on the subject of the 5G tender of Minister Uraloglu will be held in the first half of this year and will end in 2026 fiber infrastructure concession agreement will be the subject of a separate tender, he said. Koç will be the winner at the end of the process, Koç said Koç, as Turkcell full support to this cooperation.
Emphasis on Investment and Technological Transformation
Dr. Koç stated that the fiber infrastructure needs a significant amount of investment in order to spread a wider scope throughout Türkiye. In particular, companies, institutions and individual users pointed out that the demand for fiber internet service has increased rapidly. Koç said: “As Turkcell, we are developing our infrastructure to meet this demand. We accept the call of our Minister on this issue. ”
He also pointed out that 5G technology will be one of the most important transformation points for the national economy and industrial sector. Koç stated that Turkcell has prepared all the necessary technical infrastructure in the transition to 5G technology and focused on offering the highest quality 5G experience with the completion of frequency allocation.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu, last week in his assessment of Anadolu Agency, the fiber infrastructure concession agreement will end in 2026, he said. The Minister stressed that 80-90 percent of the fiber infrastructure is under the control of a single operator and that this should be reconsidered in terms of competition conditions. He pointed out that these balances will be redefined with the tender process.
Stating that they will take the necessary steps to beautify the competition conditions and to ensure transparency in the sector, Uraloğlu said that new tenders will accelerate the infrastructure investments in the sector. With the increase in competition between companies, it is aimed to provide better quality and widespread services to the citizens.
Together with these developments, new projects will be opened in order to bring a competitive structure in the international arena of Turkey in terms of both fiber infrastructure and 5G technologies.
