The Threads, owned by Meta, is very close to X in the user race in the mobile world. Similarweb’s June 2025 data show that Threads’ daily mobile users reached 115.1 million. This means an increase of 127.8 percent compared to last year. In the same period, X continues to lead with 132 million users, but seems to have experienced a 15.2 percent decrease.
While this race on the mobile is gradually balancing, this increase of Threads is read as a reflection of the change in user preferences. Threads’ mobile -oriented approach is advantageous at this point, while X’s user loss is remarkable. Meta’s focus on mobile application since the first day is one of the main elements that support the growth of the platform. The fact that it offers a simple and fast experience for users is another factor that increases this interest.
The Threads is still behind X on the web side
Despite this rapprochement on mobile, the table is completely different when it comes to web traffic. In June 2025, X received an average of 145.8 million web visits worldwide. Threads was limited to only 6.9 million days of visit in the same period. Even Bluesky has approached Threads with the number of 5.3 million web visits.
Looking at the US market, a similar balance is observed. Among the web users, Bluesky received a 2,4 million -day visit to the Threads. Threads was able to reach only 985,000 -day web visitors in the USA. X continues to lead with 33.1 million visits by far in this area.
In terms of the number of mobile users, Threads seems to be one step closer to X. In June, Threads’ mobile users reached 15.3 million in the US, while X has 22.9 million days of users in this area. Bluesky is far behind with only 1.1 million users. However, Bluesky’s user profile is based on different dynamics.
Bluesky’s increase in user, especially due to the political stance of Elon Musk, has gained momentum with the orientation of those who move away from X. However, this temporary interest began to slow down in later years. The platform has recently been faced with criticism that it has become a left -wing echo room. This may have led to some users to turn back to Threads.
Bluesky’s potential is not limited to political preferences. The platform is trying to attract technology enthusiasts with its open and user -oriented social network infrastructure. However, users who come in response to X only, can switch to other alternatives when they cannot find what they expect. At this point, Threads has the advantage of creating a more balanced user base.
According to Meta’s latest statement, Threads’ monthly active users have reached 350 million. In contrast, X, a private company, no longer shares the number of users with the public. Elon Musk claimed last year that X had 600 million monthly users. However, the accuracy of this figure is still not confirmed by independent sources.
All these data reveal that Threads is visible to X on mobile. Although the difference on the web side is still quite large, this competition on the mobile can cause the advertising cake to be reshaped. Because Meta finances Threads only with advertising revenues. As long as the increase in the number of mobile users continues, Threads’s charm for advertisers will increase. At this point, it is useful to remind that Threads is still closed in Türkiye.
