Meta’s social media platform Threads tests a new feature that will facilitate the interaction of users according to their interests. Users will not only show visitors what issues they are interested in by adding their interests to their profiles, but will also be directed to the relevant discussions. In this way, users are more active on the platform and to reach the content they want faster.
Together, together, users will not have to search for accounts manually to discover communities that share content on a particular topic. For example, a user who is interested in fields such as technology, sports, art or science will be directed to active discussions on these issues by adding interest to their profile. Thus, the platform will personalize the user experience and offer a more interactive environment.
Threads aims to make it easier to get used to the platform, especially by allowing users to connect with their interests. Users will be able to connect with people who share the people they are directly interested in instead of looking for people they want to follow.
This new feature is also compatible with the Custom Feeds feature of Threads. Special streams allow users to create content streams based on certain issues or accounts and share them with others. Threads’ interest feature is also working with a similar logic, developing the platform’s subject -based content proposition capabilities.
In a statement made by Meta, the feature is currently tested on mobile devices for the time being, while the desktop version was integrated into any information about when to integrate. This feature, which is in the test phase, can be presented to a wider audience in the future if found successful.
This new feature developed by Meta for Threads aims to increase its competitiveness against competitive social media networks such as Bluesky and X (formerly twitter) of the platform. Bluesky, which has recently attracted attention with its decentralized structure, offers tools that allow users to customize their own flow, algorithms and moderation systems. The fact that Bluesky’s number of users exceeds 32.8 million increases the competition between social media platforms.
Meta aims to increase threads interaction
Threads’s personalization features, such as profiles based on interests and special streams, is considered as a move to enable users to spend more time on the platform. This feature, which enables users to reach the content and controversy they want, coincides with Threads’s goals to create community creation and interaction.
Meta states that the feature can make improvements by evaluating feedback after the test process. If the test process is successful, the profiles based on interests are expected to be available on a wider scale.
