Google’s annual developer event I/O 2025 came to the fore with artificial intelligence announcements. However, behind the scenes of the event, some updates on different services of the company were shared. Although these features were not directly explained on the main stage, he took part in the developer sessions. Changes for Google Wallet, Play Store, Google TV and smart watches have been listed in this context.
A new feature planned for Wear OS users will allow application situations to be watched live on the clock screen. Delivery, journey sharing or map applications such as instant information from platforms, in the future, the smart watch screens can be reflected directly. This feature, which will be integrated into phones with Android 16, is expected to be available for hours in 2026. Compared to a similar system on Apple’s Watchos devices, this function comes for the first time on the Google side.
On the Google Wallet side, a function is prepared to allow users to easily view cards and transition documents depending on their location. This system, called “Nearby Passes ,, will be automatically proposed when the user reaches the airport or gym or gym. Thus, the physical search process will disappear. The process can be completed by opening the valid document with a single touch.
Google Play Store begins to offer users a request to pay
The Google Play Store makes an option that will make the payment process more flexible. The feature entitled “Request payment from someone else” will allow the user to request payment from people who are not in the Google family group to buy applications or content. This option is expected to be preferred especially in the purchase of application from your parents or relatives of young users. The system, which is first tried in India, can now be used in the USA, Japan, Indonesia and Mexico.
For subscription -based applications, a simplification is going on during the processing process. With the basic subscription, users will now be able to buy additional services at the same time, at a single transaction and total price. Thus, users will not have to pay separately between different content packages. This change will also provide a more consistent structure for application developers in terms of payment integration.
The Google Play Store developer interface also offers some updates. Developers will now be able to add sound examples for content cycles, YouTube playback lists and health applications to the application description pages. In addition, in order to prevent the widespread of the update after a mistake detected in practice, the distribution of fully published versions can be stopped.

The Google TV platform will receive some design and auditory changes with Android 16. Visually Material You’s new Expressive theme will be integrated into the system. However, thanks to the developed Mediaqualitymanager feature, applications will be able to manage image profiles independently of the system. This structure, which handles the image and sound experience together, can offer new opportunities, especially for media playback applications.
Another element to be added will be Eclipsa Audio Codec developed with Samsung. This codec, which provides spatial sound support, is being developed with the aim of providing a more consistent auditory experience among platforms. This support will be integrated with the Android 16 on Google TV devices. Thus, the differentiation of sound quality compared to devices will be opened to the control of developers.
Google’s updates are to make the current user experience more practical than a comprehensive system transformation. Although the changes to each service are limited in its own context, it aims to create integrity in the general structure. Although it cannot find a place in the I/O scene, these innovations, which are included in the developer documents, may create concrete changes in the interaction of users with different Google services in the coming period.
