The first Robot Olympics held in China was completed with record trials and decreases

The world Humanoid Robot games, which were held for the first time this year in Beijing, China, or the Robot Olympics in short, attracted the attention of the world of technology. In the three -day organization, the robots competed in different fields from sports competitions to daily task trials. The event offered an experience in which both new records and interesting accidents took place.

More than 280 teams from 16 countries participated in this organization. In addition to countries such as the USA, Germany and Brazil, the host China took part in the races with strong teams. Engineering faculties of universities and robotic companies had the opportunity to fight in the same field.

Robot Olympics has been the scene of struggles in different fields

While a significant portion of the participants were academic teams, professional companies drew attention. Companies such as China -based Unitree and Fournier Intelligence marked races. In particular, the degrees of Unitree were often discussed during the organization.

Robots showed their talents in sports branches such as jogging, football, table tennis. In addition, they competed in tasks touching daily life such as cleaning or separating medicines. Thus, a picture of both fun and tips for the future emerged.

Unitree managed to win a gold medal in four different categories in athletics competitions. 100 meters, 400 meters, 1500 meters and 4 × 100 flag running firm, left behind its competitors. The data obtained showed that robots have reached a certain level in speed.

One of Unitree’s robots reached a speed of 4.78 meters per second during the race. This value means 10 miles per hour. Nevertheless, there is a major difference in the meantime compared to the speeds reached by human athletes.

The best time of Unitree for 100 meters was 33.71 seconds. On the other hand, the 9,58 -second world record broke by the USain Bolt in 2009 is still far away. But this difference shows that the main purpose of the teams is to test their technologies rather than a record break.

During the competitions, interesting images appeared from time to time. Some robots lost their balance and fell to the ground, while others hit each other. While these scenes made the audience laugh, they also contained important lessons for engineers.

The event allowed robots to be tested not only in the field of sports but also in daily life scenarios. Cleaning, separating items and simple service tasks gave an idea of where robots can be used in the future. However, more way to reliable use in real life needs to be more way.

On the other hand, the organization offered an opportunity for international cooperation. The academic knowledge of the universities and the engineering experience of companies met on the same platform. This may open the door of future common projects.
