Telegram introduces third-party verification system

With its latest update, Telegram announced a new third-party account verification system that takes user security and verification processes to the next level. According to the statement published on the company’s official blog, this innovation aims to put the verification process in a broader framework with a decentralized structure. In this way, public figures, institutions or other users verified by Telegram will be able to reduce the risk of information pollution and fraud on the platform by verifying others.

This system, developed by Telegram, offers a completely transparent and original structure. Those who want to become a validator must first have a bot account officially approved by Telegram. After this requirement, third-party verification can be applied. Users whose applications are approved should have a minimalist icon that will appear next to the names of the accounts they have verified. It is emphasized that these symbols are simple, monochrome and distinctive.

How will Telegram’s new verification system work?

Telegram shared details about the new verification system with its users. Accordingly, users who click on the profile of each verified account will be able to access detailed information about the verification status. These explanations will transparently reveal what the verification process means and how it works. Telegram states that this verification method is completely independent of the company’s existing internal verification system. Therefore, it seems that the purpose of this new system is to make the ecosystem on the platform more reliable.

Along with this verification innovation, Telegram also announced various new features to improve user experience. Users will now be able to filter search results by specific categories, such as private chats, group chats, or channels. In addition, special emojis can be added to folder names, reactions can be used for service messages, and gift shipments can be upgraded to NFTs. All these updates have further strengthened the platform’s efforts to become user-friendly.

On the other hand, Telegram announced that it made a profit for the first time thanks to Premium subscriptions and advertising revenues. These features, which are at the center of the company’s revenue strategy, aim to increase the sustainability of the platform. However, it is also true that Telegram does not always come up with positive news. It is known that last year, Telegram founder Pavel Durov faced various legal problems on the grounds that he did not take sufficient precautions against illegal activities.

This approach, which aims to increase user security on Telegram, aims to create a more transparent communication environment by reducing fraud and misinformation. In summary, this innovation of Telegram can redefine security standards in the digital world.
