Technical details of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro become clear

Qualcomm’s next flagship mobile processors have not been officially introduced yet; Despite this, leaks circulating in the technology world provide important clues about what path the company is following for the new generation chipsets. According to current information, two different models are expected to be introduced this year: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. This distinction shows that Qualcomm can achieve more significant performance and feature differentiation in the upper segment.

The latest information indicates that the Pro model may contain remarkable innovations, especially on the hardware side. According to a report shared by ITHome, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro may come with next-generation LPDDR6 RAM support. Previous expectations were that this model would use LPDDR5X memory; However, recent developments reveal that Qualcomm may switch to a more advanced memory standard.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro technical details are starting to become clear

According to the information contained in the leaks, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, referred to as model number SM8975, was seen in customs records with LPDDR6 support. This suggests that the new memory standard is not only in theory but also in the concrete development phase. While LPDDR6 is expected to offer higher bandwidth and energy efficiency, this development can provide significant advantages, especially in artificial intelligence operations and mobile applications that require high performance.

It is stated that the processor will have a 2+3+3 core layout on the CPU side. This structure consists of two high-performance-oriented prime cores, three performance cores and three efficiency cores. Despite this, it is stated that all cores can be based on high-performance-oriented architecture and an “all-big-core” approach similar to Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 can be maintained. This approach aims to provide a more balanced performance, especially in scenarios that require intensive processing power.

On the graphics side, it is said that the Adreno 850 GPU will be included and will be accompanied by 18 MB GMEM (graphics memory). This build could mean a significant increase in mobile gaming performance and graphics processing capacity. In addition, the advanced GPU architecture is expected to play a more active role in ray tracing and artificial intelligence-supported visual improvements.

Looking at the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 model, it is stated that the CPU architecture is largely similar. However, it is stated that this version will run at lower clock speeds and come with Adreno 845 GPU on the graphics side. On the memory side, it is claimed that the LPDDR5X standard will be preserved instead of LPDDR6. This may create a clearer performance and technology difference between the two models.

All this information has not been officially confirmed yet; Despite this, leaks show that Qualcomm is working on significant changes on the mobile processor side. If LPDDR6 is integrated into mobile devices, significant improvements in data transfer speeds and energy efficiency can be achieved. However, it seems likely that this technology will be limited to only upper segment devices at first.
