Speed, brightness and thinness are at the forefront of the OnePlus 15’s screen

OnePlus announced the first official information about the screen of its new flagship OnePlus 15. While the Chinese launch of the device is expected to take place very soon, the global launch is planned to be held in mid-November. The technical data given about the display panel before this launch reveals that the innovations made on the hardware side aim to improve the visual experience, especially with the OnePlus 15.

The new screen was developed by Chinese manufacturer BOE. The panel is planned to be introduced in detail by the BOE itself on October 14. According to the information provided by OnePlus, the screen offers 13 percent more brightness compared to the previous generation. Color accuracy and consistency have improved by 11.8 percent. These data aim to make a clear difference in terms of visual experience. At this point, the panel is aimed to provide the user with a better screen experience not only with brightness but also with other visual elements.

OnePlus 15 will have a more efficient screen

The frames on all four edges of the panel are only 1.15 mm thick. This thinness provides an advantage to the device both in terms of aesthetics and screen-to-body ratio. Another point emphasized by OnePlus is that the screen consumes 10 percent less energy. In addition to all this, the lifespan of the panel has been increased by 30 percent. Such technical advances positively affect both battery performance and the overall durability of the device. However, what difference these improvements will make in daily use will become clearer through user experience.

The fact that the screen has a 165Hz refresh rate also stands out as a striking detail. This ratio becomes especially important in mobile gaming experiences and scenarios where fast transitions are intense. However, the effect of high refresh rates on energy consumption should not be ignored. At this point, the P3 chip developed by Oppo comes into play. Thanks to this special chip, the screen is made resistant to brightness fluctuations even at high speeds. In addition, delay in user interactions is minimized.

The Oppo P3 chip, which supports the technical infrastructure of the panel, reduces the response time and contributes to the stable performance of the screen. This chip also plays an important role in maintaining visual stability. The panel’s responses in different scenarios are optimized directly thanks to this chip. Thus, fluency can be maintained both in gaming and in daily use. However, how effective such improvements are in practice will be revealed through post-launch tests. Therefore, data on paper raises expectations in terms of performance.

On the other hand, the lowest brightness value of the screen is determined as 1 nits at the hardware level. This value has also been approved by TÜV Rheinland. This feature, which is expected to reduce eye fatigue during night use, makes it easier to use the screen in low light environments. In addition to all this, this minimum brightness level makes content consumption more comfortable. It seems that OnePlus made a choice here by taking user health into consideration. Such technical decisions directly affect not only hardware power but also user comfort.

Although brightness, refresh rate and power efficiency have increased, there is a different situation on the screen resolution side. The QHD + resolution in OnePlus 13 is replaced by 1.5K resolution in the new model. Although this change may seem like a step back at first glance, it is clear that it was made with the aim of reducing power consumption. Considering the overall performance of the screen, this choice may aim to achieve a certain balance. However, it is a matter of curiosity how users who demand high resolution will react to this decision.

The processor of the device will be Qualcomm’s new generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite chipset. This chipset stands out with its artificial intelligence performance and graphics power. It is thought that the experience that this processor will offer together with the new display panel will reach the level expected from flagship class devices. The contribution of this processor will be decisive in areas such as mobile gaming, multitasking management and multimedia use. So much so that hardware components determine the character of the device as a whole. The reflection of performance on the field becomes possible with this technical harmony.

When all the technical details are brought together, the OnePlus 15’s screen offers remarkable innovations in terms of both visual quality and efficiency. Elements such as high refresh rate, increased brightness and low power consumption can directly affect the user experience of the device. However, preferences such as resolution reduction may lead to different opinions. How to meet this balance between expectations and technical preferences will be better understood through user feedback.
