Sony Xperia 1 VI introduced: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, renewed screen and camera together

Sony Xperia 1 VI has officially appeared after leaks that have been going on for a while. The smartphone adds touches to the formula of the Xperia 1 V that will delight users.

The biggest change is the switch from the 21:9 4K OLED panel to the 19.5:9 aspect ratio panel with 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution. There is no change in the 6.5 inch screen size. However, it can be said that the screen looks larger with the new aspect ratio.

While the maximum screen brightness increases from 900 nits to 1300 nits, the refresh rate of the LPTO panel varies between 1 and 120 Hz. On the Xperia 1 V, the refresh rate could be adjusted between 60 and 120 Hz.

This change is expected to have a positive impact on battery life. Sony underlines that the 5000 mAh battery will provide two days of use. It is possible to charge the battery to 50 percent in 30 minutes with the 30W charging adapter. He also underlines that thanks to the Battery Care and Xperia Adaptive Charging feature, the battery can maintain at least 80 percent of its capacity after four years.

Xperia 1 VI comes with full-stage front-facing stereo speakers that have lower distortion, are louder and more balanced. The 3.5mm headphone jack features new Premium Audio Circuitry for improved output.

The smartphone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor accompanied by 12 GB RAM. Xperia 1 VI will be sold with 256 GB storage in Europe. It will be on the shelves in Japan and East Asia with a 512 GB storage option.

Sony has finally installed a vapor ring in its flagship phone, which will help a lot with cooling. The new FPS Optimizer can dynamically adjust CPU usage and frame rates depending on the gaming environment.

The main camera on the Xperia 1 VI is a 48-megapixel sensor. The 12 megapixel resolution sensor accompanies the ultra wide-angle camera. There are important changes regarding the zoom camera. The sensor size is again 1/3.5 inch. However, the Xperia 1 VI offers a longer reach 85mm-170mm optical zoom module (from 3.5x to 7.1x) compared to the V's 85-110mm lens. The Xperia 1 VI comes with much closer focusing and even a dedicated macro mode for the telephoto camera.

Sony Xperia 1 VI comes out of the box with Android 14

Gorilla Glass Victus protects the back of the smartphone and Victus 2 glass protects the front. The rear glass has a microfabricated and frosted textured coating, just like the previous model. Textured strips were also preferred on the aluminum frame.

Sony Xperia 1 VI will come out of the box with Android 14 installed. Security updates for the phone, which will receive three Android updates, will continue for four years. The phone, available in black, silver and green color options, will be available in Europe in the first days of June, with prices starting from 1399 euros.
