SoftBank strengthens artificial intelligence chip investments with ampere computing

While the production of artificial intelligence in the world of technology becomes an increasingly competing field, companies continue to make strategic moves in order to gain advantage in this field. Japanese technology giant Softbank aims to further strengthen artificial intelligence investments by acquiring a chip design company Ampre Computing, founded by former Intel President Renee James. The company announced that it will pay a cash of $ 6.5 billion for this purchase.

When Ampre Computing was founded by Renee James in 2018, it was focused on developing cloud -based information solutions. However, over time, the direction of the company changed and shifted to the field of sustainable artificial intelligence. Softbank thinks that this acquisition will make significant contributions to the research and development activities of the chip design giant ARM.

Softbank has long been making major investments in the field of artificial intelligence and expanding its work on the development of chip. ARM, owned by the company, announced that it has started to design its own chips in recent months. Ampere Computing said that in this process, ARM will increase its competitiveness by increasing its hardware development capacity.

In a statement made by Softbank, it was emphasized that ampere will support artificial intelligence projects such as Cristal Intelligence and Stargate. With this purchase, the company aims to speed up growth goals by making the artificial intelligence infrastructure stronger. In particular, such investments are of great importance in order to respond to the increasing demands of large -scale artificial intelligence practices.

Ampere Computing will continue its activities by protecting its current name, but it will be positioned as a fully connected side organization to Softbank. The agreement is expected to be completed by the end of the year after the completion of regulatory approval processes and other closing conditions.

Ampere Computing’s CEO Renee James, said in a statement about the purchase, said they shared a common vision with Softbank. James, “A perfect development for the ampere team. Working with Softbank Group, we will continue to move our high -performance ARM processors and artificial intelligence solutions further,” he said. Ampere’s long -term goals include developing optimized processors for data centers and large -scale artificial intelligence applications.

SoftBank will increase its advantage in artificial intelligence chip production

This acquisition is seen as an important step to increase the competitive advantage of Softbank in the field of artificial intelligence chip production. Especially in the rapidly growing market in the development of artificial intelligence -supported hardware, ARM and Amprere’s cooperation can strengthen the position of Softbank. This move of the company is considered as a remarkable development in terms of artificial intelligence race among global technology giants.
