Sandisk, one of the leading brands in storage solutions, announced its new Extreme Fit flash memory developed for devices with USB-C ports. This ultra-small USB-C memory with a capacity of 1 TB is designed to remain plugged in constantly when plugged into the laptop, thanks to its physical dimensions. According to Sandisk’s statement, this model claims to be the world’s smallest 1 TB USB-C flash memory.
Extreme Fit’s L-shaped design is designed to sit at a right angle to the USB-C port. This structure ensures that the memory is placed in a way that it almost does not spill out when inserted into the device. However, a very slight protrusion has been left to prevent contact when the laptop lid is closed. In this way, the device offers comfort in continuous use and reduces the risk of physical harm.
SanDisk offers Extreme Fit in five different capacity options
The Extreme Fit model is offered for sale with five different capacity options: 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB. The most striking model is undoubtedly the version with 1TB capacity. Supporting the USB 3.2 Gen 1 standard, the device can theoretically offer a reading speed of up to 400MB/s. However, the maximum speed of the 64GB version remains at 300MB/s. These speeds are considered sufficient for permanent storage purposes rather than high-performance data transfer.
The structure of the memory provides an advantage in terms of portability, especially with the device. However, considering the sensitive nature of USB-C connections, it is recommended to be careful when carrying the computer. Although the slim design reduces the risk of breakage from sudden impacts to the port, the physical durability of the connectors remains limited.
One of the products in a similar segment is the USB-C flash memory launched by Japan-based Suneast, which offers only 512 GB capacity, but has even smaller dimensions. However, this product is only on sale in Japan. On the other hand, Sandisk’s Extreme Fit model is available for order in global markets, especially in the USA. Pricing starts at $15.99 for the 64GB model and goes up to $117.99 for the highest capacity 1TB version.
The device offers a suitable option especially for users who want to expand their storage space and are looking for a portable solution for this. These types of USB-C memories, which are more economical and practical compared to built-in storage expansions, are becoming increasingly preferred thanks to their compatibility with new generation devices. In line with this trend, Sandisk’s new model aims to offer a balance in terms of both capacity and ease of use.
