Samsung’s long -term three -fold display smartphone seems to be released in only two countries. Although it has not yet become official, the device is frequently expressed in the technology circles where the Samsung Galaxy G Fold can become official. While this special device is expected to be introduced towards the end of 2025, the distribution strategy contains remarkable limitations. The latest information on the GSMA database indicates that the device will only be available in South Korea and China.
These devices, which are referred to as SM-F968N and SM-F9680, belong to South Korea and China according to Samsung’s regional coding system. The company usually prefers “N” for South Korea and the “0” extension for the Chinese market. This strengthens the possibility that the device will not come to other global markets. The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which was released in these two countries last year, was an example of a similar approach.
The fact that the device is included in the GSMA database under the code name Q7M seems to be part of this strategy. It is also known from the previous examples that such code names are preferred in order to prevent leakage of the real product name. But this time the fact that the code name is accidentally listed as the market name increases the uncertainties of the commercial name of the device. Although the name Galaxy G Fold is the most powerful candidate for now, there is no finalized information.
Samsung usually adds its new devices to the GSMA database about 6-7 months before the release. According to this account, the three foldable phone can meet users towards October 2025. However, unless an official statement is made, this date cannot go beyond the assumption. However, it is already clear that the production amount will be limited.
The limited production explains to some extent the sale of the device in only two countries. A new form factor, three foldable design, is very logical to try in certain markets before being presented to a wide audience. South Korea and China are among the countries where Samsung first offers experimental products. These two markets offer a very suitable environment to collect user feedback.
Samsung may be aiming to reduce the risk
In addition to all these, the high production and distribution costs of this device makes a common launch difficult for now. The three folding mechanism requires a much more complex engineering than existing double foldable models. This necessitates a great adaptation process both in the production line and on the software side. Samsung’s producing such a device in a limited number can be considered as a measure taken to reduce technical risks.
On the other hand, this device is likely to attract great interest among technology enthusiasts. The three foldable design has the potential to combine both tablet and phone experience. However, it is not yet known how this new format will perform in daily use. Therefore, it can be a logical decision to keep the user experience under control in the first stage.
In spite of everything, the possibility of Samsung’s presentation to different countries cannot be completely ignored. In previous years, the company had presented some of its devices in limited markets and then spread it on a global scale. In this context, this model, which is expected to be called Galaxy G Fold, is likely to emerge in other markets in the future. However, for now, eyes are only translated into South Korea and China.
Samsung’s three foldable device begins with limited production and careful distribution as an unusual product. In the world of technology, it stands out as a development that should be followed carefully, not curiously. With its release, it is possible to bring a different breath to the foldable device segment. But when this innovation will meet with large masses, it remains a question mark for now.
