Google introduced its new generation on-device artificial intelligence model, Gemini Nano 4, together with Samsung’s new foldable phones. According to the company’s statement on the Android Developers Blog, Gemini Nano 4 is included in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 models. Thus, the new artificial intelligence infrastructure, built on the Gemma 4 models introduced at the beginning of the year, reached the end user for the first time. The new model aims to offer a more comprehensive experience compared to the previous generation, with more advanced multi-modal capabilities and wide language support.
According to the information shared by Google, Gemini Nano 4 supports more than 140 languages. In addition, it has advanced multi-modal understanding capabilities that can evaluate text, visuals and different data types together. Since the model is designed to run entirely on the device, it can offer lower latency and higher privacy for appropriate transactions without the need for a cloud connection. This approach also allows artificial intelligence features to be used in situations where internet connection is limited.
Gemini Intelligence features expand with Gemini Nano 4
Gemini Nano 4 forms the basis of the Gemini Intelligence features offered in Samsung’s new foldable phones. Thanks to this infrastructure, users can perform daily transactions with natural language commands. Google states that real-world transactions such as ordering food or purchasing event tickets are also among the supported scenarios. In addition, it is aimed to perform various tasks with a single command without switching between different applications.
In addition, Google announced that the Gemini Notebook feature, previously known as NotebookLM, also benefits from the Gemini Intelligence infrastructure. This feature; It can transform images, notes, PDF documents and different file types into more organized and structured content. Thus, users can summarize long documents, bring together information from different sources in a single workspace, and analyze the content more easily.
Google continues to work on new functions that will come to the Gemini Intelligence ecosystem. one of these Create My Widget The feature will allow users to create their own home screen widgets with artificial intelligence support. On the other hand, developed for Gboard Rambler Dictation mode is not available yet. This feature aims to make the voice input experience more efficient by turning messy and natural speech into meaningful notes.
With Gemini Nano 4, Google aims to bring the artificial intelligence capabilities running on the device to a wider area of use. Samsung’s new foldable phones are among the first commercial use examples of this model. While Gemini Nano 4-based features are expected to spread to different Android manufacturers and more devices in the coming period, Google will continue to gradually roll out new Gemini Intelligence functions. This process could further increase the role of on-device generative AI solutions in the Android ecosystem.
