Samsung’s most trusted foldable model has emerged

As Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event to be held on July 22 approaches, a remarkable supply chain report regarding the company’s new generation foldable phones has emerged. Information based on industry sources shows that the company gives more weight to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 model in its production plans than other new foldable phones. Accordingly, the production target set for the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 exceeds both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Flip 8. The figures in question have not yet been confirmed by Samsung. Despite this, it offers important clues about the company’s market expectations.

According to the report, Samsung asked its suppliers to prepare for the production of approximately 2.8 million units of Galaxy Z Fold 8. The same sources report that there is a production plan of approximately 2 million units for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and 1.5 million units for the Galaxy Z Flip 8. This table indicates that the company predicts that demand for the standard Fold model, especially in book form, will be higher. Although production plans may change over time, initial order quantities can give an idea about manufacturers’ sales expectations.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 may stand out with its large screen design

According to leaks, one of the most striking innovations of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be its wider screen structure. It is said that the device will come with an internal screen with an aspect ratio of approximately 4:3. Such a design is expected to both improve the multitasking experience and offer a wider working area in usage scenarios such as document editing, internet browsing and video watching. In addition, the change in screen ratio can also contribute to applications providing a tablet-like experience.

The same report states that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor. The “for Galaxy” versions that Samsung uses in its high-end Galaxy models come with manufacturer-specific optimizations compared to the standard Snapdragon platform. Unofficial technical details indicate that the device may offer improvements in performance and energy efficiency compared to the previous generation. In addition, it is also expected that Samsung will further develop Galaxy AI features on the software side.

The resulting information suggests that the phone will come with a 7.6-inch foldable main screen and a 5.5-inch cover screen. It is stated that the battery capacity will be at 4,800 mAh. While a dual rear camera installation is expected on the camera side, detailed information about the technical specifications of the sensors has not been shared yet. Despite this, it is considered that Samsung aims to provide more successful results in daily use by improving its image processing algorithms.

On the other hand, another point that draws attention in the report is that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will compete with the high-end iPhone model, which Apple is expected to introduce in September, in the same period. While the foldable phone market continues to grow in recent years, Samsung aims to maintain its leading position in this field. The higher production target also reflects the company’s confidence, especially in the Fold series. However, it should not be forgotten that production plans do not directly indicate final sales figures. Samsung’s real market performance will be revealed more clearly with user interest and sales data after the introduction of the devices.
