Samsung quietly changes Galaxy S26 production plan

Samsung has reportedly made a notable update to its production plans for the Galaxy S26 series. According to a new news source from South Korea, the company rearranged its production targets for April in line with demand. While the initial planning predicted a total production of 2.4 million units, this distribution was 800 thousand for the Samsung Galaxy S26, 300 thousand for the Galaxy S26 + and 1.3 million for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, the updated figures reveal that user demand is particularly directed towards certain models.

According to the new plan, Samsung aims to produce 1.3 million Galaxy S26, 1.5 million Galaxy S26 Ultra and only 200 thousand Galaxy S26 + in April. While this change shows that the standard Galaxy S26 model has received higher interest than expected, it also indicates that the Galaxy S26 Ultra has slightly exceeded its predicted sales performance. Despite this, the fact that the Galaxy S26+ model did not receive the same attention has caused production quantities to be reduced significantly.

It is stated that Samsung ordered more components through its supply chain in March to meet this increase. These parts will be used directly in the production increase in April. Thus, the company seems to have been able to quickly adapt its production line to the sudden change in demand. However, the fact that production plans are revised in such a short time also reveals how quickly demand fluctuations in the smartphone market can occur.

What are the features behind the interest in the Galaxy S26 Ultra model?

Industry sources state that some technical features are effective behind the high production share of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. It is stated that especially the privacy-oriented display technology called “Privacy Display” attracts attention among users. This feature ensures that the screen displays a clear image only when viewed directly from the front, reducing the visibility of the content when viewed from side angles. For users who attach more importance to data privacy in daily use, such solutions can directly affect the purchasing decision.

In addition, factors such as the Ultra model’s camera performance, battery capacity and premium material quality continue to attract the upper segment user base. Despite this, the question of why the Galaxy S26+ model, which is expected to be more affordable, attracted less attention is noteworthy. This suggests that consumers either prefer to stay with the basic model or go directly to the top model.

On the other hand, it seems that Samsung is reviewing its production plans not only in the flagship series but also in the middle segment. The April production target of the Galaxy A57 model was reduced from 1.8 million units to 1.6 million units. Similarly, the planned production amount for Galaxy A17 was reduced from 4.4 million units to 3.9 million units. These changes indicate that demand in the entry and middle segments may have remained below expectations.
