Last week, Samsung rolled out the August 2024 security update to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 models in the US. Now, the update is rolling out to users in more countries around the world. Device users in Turkey also have the opportunity to get this update.
The update is live in Asian, European and Latin American countries, including Turkey
The new security update released for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 closes several vulnerabilities for these devices. This update, available with version numbers F731BXXS3CXGD and F946BXXS3CXGD, includes the August 2024 security patch and fixes 49 vulnerabilities detected in previous software versions.
This update is now available for users in the following countries:
Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, Guatemala, India, Iraq, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Caucasus Region, Philippines, UAE, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and Vietnam.
Users in these countries can use the Settings > Software update menu. They can update their devices to the latest software version by clicking on the “Download and install” option. Alternatively, they can download the new software file and install it manually using the Odin tool. However, it should be noted that caution should be exercised while doing this process and that one should have knowledge of manual software installation.
When will the One UI 6.1.1 update arrive for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5?
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 are currently running One UI 6.1 software based on Android 14. However, they are expected to receive the One UI 6.1.1 update next month. Later this year, both foldable phones will receive the One UI 7.0 update based on Android 15. This update will bring a number of improvements to users, including a new design, updated app icons, improved stock apps, new Galaxy AI features, and refreshed animations.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, which were released with Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 in the second half of last year, also introduced Galaxy AI features to users with the One UI 6.1 update they received earlier this year.
