Samsung’s highly anticipated upcoming flagship smartphone series, the Galaxy S25, will likely be introduced at the beginning of 2025. However, many details about the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which will be the top-tier model of the series, have already come to light. Among this information, battery capacity stands out in particular. It seems that users’ expectations for a major battery update are coming to naught with the new information.
Galaxy S25 Ultra battery capacity will not change
According to the latest information, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will not have any increase in battery capacity compared to the previous model. According to the information in the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) database, the battery capacity of the device is listed as 4,885 mAh. This is almost the same as the battery capacity of the Galaxy S24 Ultra and means that the device will be introduced as 5,000 mAh. Therefore, it seems that Samsung will not make any improvements in battery capacity in the new model.
Previous reports also suggested that the Galaxy S25 Ultra would not receive any upgrades in charging speeds. This could be a disappointment for Samsung users, especially when compared to Chinese rivals that offer devices with larger battery capacities and faster charging capabilities. Brands such as Honor, OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi have already started offering flagship devices with batteries above 5,000mAh. Some reports even suggest that these brands are testing batteries with capacities of 6,000mAh and even 7,500mAh.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra is known to offer a battery life of one day of heavy use and one and a half days of moderate use. However, considering daily usage habits and the increasing importance of mobile devices in our lives, a larger battery capacity could have helped the device last longer. It is expected that Samsung will start using high-capacity Silicon Carbide batteries like its Chinese competitors in the future.
What else to expect from the Galaxy S25 series?
Samsung is expected to introduce some innovations in the design of the device with the Galaxy S25 series. It is claimed that the series will make a design change that draws attention, especially with the rounded corner design. The Galaxy S25 Ultra will come with a significant upgrade in camera features. The device, which will be equipped with a 200 MP main camera, two 50 MP telephoto cameras and a 50 MP ultra-wide angle camera, is preparing to take an important step in the field of photography.
The device is expected to offer two different options on the processor side. The Galaxy S25 series will be equipped with either the Exynos 2500 chip or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, depending on the region where it is released. Both processors are said to be produced with 3nm technology and offer significant improvements in terms of performance.
On the software side, the Galaxy S25 series is expected to come out of the box with Android 15-based One UI 7.1. Samsung has been drawing attention with the changes it has made to its update policy in recent years. In this context, the Galaxy S25 series is expected to receive seven major Android operating system updates and be equipped with several new Galaxy AI features.
Although the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra does not offer the expected improvements in battery capacity or charging speed, it seems that it will manage to attract attention with innovations on the camera and processor side. However, considering the increasing competition conditions, it will become clear over time whether it will meet the expectations of users.
