Samsung expanded the limits during the beta process with One UI 8.5

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 beta program has become the most comprehensive process in the company’s history, both in terms of duration and number of devices covered. The beta program, which was launched in December 2025, went beyond the usual schedules and continued for months, thus making it recorded as Samsung’s longest One UI testing process to date. Although this caused impatience on the part of the user, it made it possible for more Galaxy models to receive early access.

The first phase of the program was limited to the Galaxy S25 series and was not expanded to other models for approximately three months. This long wait has led to speculation that the beta version may remain exclusive to the S25 family. Despite this, a significant expansion took place in mid-March and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 models were included in beta. This development was the first concrete sign that the process will spread to a wider range of devices.

In the following weeks, distribution accelerated and the number of supported models increased noticeably. In particular, the inclusion of the Galaxy A series in the beta program stood out as a situation that was not uncommon in previous One UI updates. In addition, supporting FE models from three different generations at the same time revealed Samsung’s approach to expanding the testing scope.

One UI 8.5 beta coverage surpasses previous versions

Currently, the One UI 8.5 beta program can be used on a total of 21 Galaxy devices. While the entire Galaxy S25, S24 and S23 series are included in this list; S25 FE, S24 FE and S23 FE models are also supported. On the foldable device side, Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Flip 5 are also on the list, along with Galaxy Z Fold 7, Fold 6 and Fold 5. While there are Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra in the tablet category, Galaxy A55, A36 and A35 models attract attention in the middle segment.

This number marks a significant increase compared to previous One UI beta programs. While One UI 8.0 beta was limited to approximately 18 devices, One UI 7 beta was only available on 12 models. In One UI 6.1 and 6.1.1 versions, the number of supported devices was below 15. This chart shows that One UI 8.5 has significantly expanded its reach during the testing period.

However, the process has not gone completely smoothly. Limited distribution, especially in the first months, caused criticism among users. It is also noteworthy that the beta version has continued for a long time, especially for the Galaxy S25 series. Nine separate beta updates have been released for this series so far, and this number stands out as the highest number of beta updates received by any Galaxy model. The absence of critical errors in the latest versions raises questions about why the process is taking longer.
