Samsung added a new function to the Samsung Browser application developed for smart watches using the Wear OS operating system. With the latest update, users can now download the images they view on the internet directly to their smart watches. The application, which previously offered features such as basic internet browsing and video playback, becomes a little more functional for daily use thanks to this innovation.
The new feature can be used in the latest version of the Wear OS version of Samsung Browser. When you long press on any image while browsing a web page, the “Download image” option appears on the screen. Using this option, supported images can be saved directly to the internal storage of the smart watch. In order to use the feature, the application must be updated to the latest version.
Samsung Browser now lists downloaded images in a separate section
Samsung added the new feature to the home page of the application. Downloads It also added a new section called (Downloads). Users can view the images they downloaded in bulk through this section. However, the app only shows small previews of the images. In order to open files in full size, a third-party file manager or gallery application running on Wear OS must be used.
All downloaded files are stored in the internal memory of the smart watch. Downloads is saved in the folder. Samsung Browser also offers basic options on the file management side. Users can delete an image by long-pressing it, select multiple files at the same time, or mark all downloaded content with a single tap. In this way, the management process becomes more practical, especially for users who download a large number of images.
For now, the file types that can be downloaded are limited to PNG, JPG, JPEG and GIF formats. In addition, there is a 10 MB size limit for each file. Larger images or different file formats are not supported by the current version. There is no official statement about whether Samsung will expand these limits in future updates.
Samsung Browser stands out as one of the few full-featured internet browsers on the Wear OS platform. The application previously attracted attention with its ability to play YouTube videos directly on the smart watch screen. With the addition of image download support, the browser becomes a more useful tool that can not only display web pages but also store content offline.
The new feature is currently available with the Samsung Browser update released for Wear OS. Users who update the application can benefit from the image and GIF download function without making any additional settings. Although there are some limitations in file size and format support, this innovation is a small but useful addition that positively improves the daily experience, especially for users who prefer independent internet use via smart watches.
