Reddit allows users to hide their shares from their profiles

Reddit has launched a new feature where users can hide their shares and comments on the public profile pages. With this feature, users will be able to remove their shares on certain sub -directors or all comments and posts from their profiles. Considering the transparency principle that Reddit has implemented so far, this change is considered a remarkable step. Although the user names were anonymous, the shipment history was clearly visible in profiles.

With the newly incoming settings, Reddit allows users to hide their contents more controlled than the outside world. Users can now remove all their content if they want, or only their activities in certain subreddites. This stands out as a significant change especially for rejections that give more importance to privacy. In addition, a special hiding option has been presented for the content of sub -directors with NSFW (adult content).

Reddit users can remove NSFW content and specific posts from their profiles

With the NSFW set added to the system, users can prevent their shares in adult communities from appearing in their profiles. However, these content will continue to appear in subreddit where sharing is made. So a shipment or comment will stop at Subreddit, but will not be listed on the profile page. The hiding process only affects profile visibility.

Reddit brings an exception to the moderators in these rules. When users want to join a community, become a content producer or send a message to the moderator, moderators can see the last 28 -day history of these users. This constitutes a balance point to ensure the community order. In any case, this audit authority of the moderators seems to have been protected for the health of the communities.

Some Reddit users expressed their concerns about this innovation. In particular, comments were made that people who produce harmful content or who have deliberately emit wrong information became easier to keep their behavior. One of the most voted comments argues that this change can make malicious people invisible. However, when the user is evaluated in terms of privacy, this new setting is a need.

On the other hand, some users think that the need to open an alternative or temporary account is reduced with this change. Now that it is easier to hide sensitive content from the profile, it is enough to use the current account instead of opening a new account. This stands out as a detail that makes the user experience more practical. In addition, there is a development that may affect the general usage habits of the platform.

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman said that there may be changes in account -creating processes at the investor meeting. Huffman said that more strict methods would be developed to combat artificial intelligence -backed abuse. In this context, increasing user privacy can also be supported by new measures. More closely monitoring of account security and user behavior remains on the agenda of Reddit.
