Qualcomm managed to increase both revenues and profits in fiscal 2024

Qualcomm announced its last quarter results for the 2024 fiscal year and announced that it closed the year with a strong performance. Despite the increasing competitive environment in the technology sector, the company increased its revenues by 19 percent in the last quarter of the year compared to the same period last year. During this period, Qualcomm’s net profit also showed a huge jump, increasing by 96 percent. The company’s financial performance throughout the 2024 fiscal year stands out with a 9 percent revenue increase and a 40 percent net profit growth compared to the previous year.

Along with the financial results, Qualcomm’s payments to its investors and share repurchases were also among the prominent details. While the company paid a total of $ 947 million in dividends to its shareholders in the fourth quarter of the year alone, this amount reached $ 3.68 billion in the entire 2024 fiscal year. Additionally, Qualcomm’s share buyback policy has also been expanded; The company bought back shares worth $1.3 billion in the last quarter alone, making a total share purchase of $4.12 billion. Qualcomm’s Board of Directors also approved a new $15 billion share repurchase program in line with its goals of increasing the company’s value.

Most of Qualcomm’s revenues in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024 were generated from the smartphone industry. The company’s smartphone unit generated total revenue of $6.1 billion in the quarter, solidifying its leading position in the industry. The Internet of Things (IoT) unit generated $1.7 billion in revenue with developing technology and connectivity solutions. The automotive industry, in which Qualcomm has made significant investments in recent years, also showed significant growth this year, and $899 million in revenue was generated in the fourth quarter. These figures indicate that Qualcomm is advancing not only in smartphones and IoT, but also in automotive technologies.

Behind the growth in the automotive industry are Qualcomm’s innovations, especially in the fields of autonomous vehicle technologies, in-car infotainment systems and connectivity solutions. Chips and software used in autonomous driving and in-car artificial intelligence-based applications support the company’s rapid rise in the automotive industry. Growth in the automotive space creates a new source that offers greater revenue potential in the future.

Qualcomm showed that it aims to increase its competitiveness in the field of technology by introducing its new products at important events such as the Snapdragon Summit this year. New generation versions of Snapdragon chipsets enable the company to bring more advanced technologies to market in IoT, PC and automotive solutions. These products have been developed to be used in different areas, especially with the development of 5G infrastructure.

What does Qualcomm expect from fiscal year 2025?

Aiming to make a strong start to the 2025 fiscal year, Qualcomm expects its revenues to be between 10.5 and 11.3 billion dollars in the first quarter of the year. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon emphasized that the last quarter results closed the fiscal year strongly and drew attention to the company’s growth and diversification strategies in the coming period. According to Amon’s statement, the new products introduced especially at the Snapdragon Summit will enable Qualcomm to maintain its leadership in both the smartphone and automotive industries.
