Qualcomm officially announced its newest mobile chipset called Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. This chipset, which can be described as the next step in the evolution of Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, shares its main Cortex-X4 core and on-device productive artificial intelligence features with the flagship Snapdragon 8 series.
Qualcomm's new chip promises 15 percent better CPU performance. It is stated that the Adreno GPU runs 45 percent faster than its predecessor. It is stated that there is a 5 percent decrease in power consumption.
For the first time in the Snapdragon 7 series, it is possible to find on-device productive artificial intelligence capabilities in a chip. Multiple wide language models and wide view models are supported by Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. These include Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, Gemini Nano and Zhipu ChatGLM.
It is expected to provide access to better virtual assistants with artificial intelligence features. In addition, never-before-seen content is expected to be created with high efficiency. It is stated that entertainment can become more accessible with multi-language translation and conversion of voice to text.
In Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, produced with a 4 nm process, Cortex-X4 operating at a frequency of 2.8 GHz serves as the main core. Four 2.6 GHz performance cores (presumably A720) and three 1.9 GHz efficiency cores (A520) complete the system.
Qualcomm's new processor comes with the Snapdragon X63 5G modem with FastConnect 7800 connection system and 3GPP Release 17 5G. Phones with the chip, which promises downlink speeds over NR up to 4.2 Gbps, will also work in old cellular standards.
Which brands will the first phones carrying Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 come from?
Offering 4K 60 Hz or QHD + 120 Hz resolution support, Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 supports refresh rates ranging from 1 to 240 Hz. While memory support extends up to 24 GB 24 GB LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage technology is also on the support list of Qualcomm's new chip.
