Perplexity AI brings a new breath to artificial intelligence-supported shopping

Perplexity AI, the artificial intelligence-supported search engine, announced important innovations to make shopping processes easier and faster. Pro subscribers in the US no longer have to be redirected to another site to purchase a product, thanks to the “Buy with Pro” feature added to the platform. Instead, the shopping process can be completed directly via Perplexity using registered invoice and delivery information.

Meanwhile, according to the company’s statement, all products purchased with the “Buy with Pro” option come with the advantage of free shipping. However, for products not supported by this feature, users will be directed to the relevant seller’s website to complete their purchases. Perplexity spokesperson Sara Platnick stated that this innovation does not currently have a commercial aspect and no commission is received from sales.

Snap to Shop and new product cards

Another step of Perplexity AI to improve the user experience was a new tool called “Snap to Shop”. This feature allows users to take a photo of a product and get detailed information about it with the help of artificial intelligence. This tool, which works similar to Google Lens, will initially be available only to Pro subscribers. In addition, the new product cards shown in shopping-related searches also attract attention. These cards contain the product’s image, price and summary information created by artificial intelligence.

On the other hand, some improvements for shopping are also offered for users who do not have a Pro subscription. In particular, product reviews and summarizing key features aim to help users make quick decisions. In addition to all this, it can be said that new shopping features make the shopping experience smarter.

Perplexity has launched a merchant program that does not limit these innovations to just consumers, but also includes sellers. This program aims to make their products more visible by providing sellers with insights into shopping and search trends. Additionally, this increases the likelihood that Perplexity will recommend relevant products.

Ultimately, these moves by Perplexity both improve the shopping experience of users and make the platform an attractive market for sellers. Such developments could enable Perplexity AI to become a major player in the field of AI-powered shopping solutions.
