Opera integrates Google's artificial intelligence Gemini into its internet browser

Opera users can take advantage of the capabilities of OpenAI's large language models (LLMs) when they use the browser's Aria built-in AI assistant. Opera is now collaborating with Google to integrate Gemini AI Models into Aria.

According to Opera, the Composer AI engine can process the user's request based on their query and then decide which model to use for each task.

When Google officially announced LLM last year, it described Gemini as “the most capable model it has ever produced.” Since then, the company has announced Gemini-powered features in its products and integrated the Gemini AI chatbot directly into Android. Opera stated that thanks to Gemini's integration, its browser “can now offer its users the most up-to-date information with high performance.”

Opera will also offer experimental features in collaboration with Google Gemini

The company's partnership with Google also allows Aria to introduce new experimental features as part of its AI Feature Drop program. Users with the Opera One Developer version of the browser can try a new rendering feature supported by Google's Imagen 2 model for free.

Users can also listen to Aria's voice responses in a conversational tone, using Google's text-to-speech model. If everything goes well during testing, Opera can roll out the features to everyone, but may also make some changes depending on user feedback.
