OnePlus announced both the new smartphone model OnePlus 15R and an unnamed smartwatch with a post on its official website. While promotional images of both devices have been published, the technical details of the products remain largely a mystery. However, the shared image of the 15R model bears great similarities with the OnePlus Ace 6, which was previously released in China.
These similarities give important clues about the hardware features of the device. The 15R, which is expected to come with a larger screen than last year’s OnePlus 13R model, may also carry Qualcomm’s new generation Snapdragon 8 series “Elite” chipset. One of the most notable technical upgrades of the device may be 120W fast charging support with its 7800 mAh battery. However, it is predicted that this new model will give up the telephoto camera support found in the 13R and will come with only two rear cameras.
A new smart watch will be introduced along with OnePlus 15R
OnePlus is on the agenda not only with its new smartphone model, but also with a smart watch whose name is not yet known. On the website prepared for the European market, only the silhouette of this smart watch was included. While there are no technical details or visuals about the device, it is introduced only with the phrase “New Watch”. The company is expected to launch this watch in the same period as the 15R model.
Although concrete information about the watch has not been shared yet, after the first OnePlus Watch model, it seems likely that this new device will come with more advanced health tracking sensors, improved battery life and an updated Wear OS version. Despite this, these expectations remain at the level of speculation before official statements are made.
In addition to all this, the fact that OnePlus took a step back in camera hardware in the 15R model caused question marks among technology enthusiasts. Especially while telephoto camera support was offered in the 13R model last year, the removal of this feature in the new device can be considered a negative development for users. On the other hand, hardware improvements such as a more powerful processor, larger battery and fast charging support have the potential to increase the performance of the device.
Based on current information, it is almost certain that the OnePlus 15R will be offered as the global version of the OnePlus Ace 6. This means that the design and technical features will be largely similar.
