One-tap editing and speed control coming to Google Photos

With its new update for Android users, Google Photos has started to offer two remarkable innovations that make the photo editing and video watching experience more practical. The focus of the update is the one-touch AI-powered editing tool and the long-awaited video playback speed controls. These innovations enable faster transactions within the application and allow users to perform more transactions without the need for an additional application.

The “AI Enhance” button offered within the scope of the update aims to simplify the photo editing process. Artificial intelligence automatically applies these adjustments, without the need for users to individually change settings such as brightness and contrast. Thus, while editing time is shortened, the results obtained provide sufficient improvement for most users. However, it seems that the level of control may be limited for those who want to make more detailed and precise adjustments.

On the other hand, the innovations made on the video side stand out as a step that expands the scope of Google Photos. Playback speed for videos can now be adjusted within the application. Users can change the speed of the clips between 0.25x and 2x and do this without leaving the application. This provides a more flexible use, especially for those who want to quickly review long videos or examine certain moments more slowly.

Google Photos improves video and photo experience

The ability to adjust the video playback speed shows that a feature that has been available mostly in dedicated video applications to date has been brought to Google Photos. However, the application is moving from being just a storage tool to a more comprehensive media management solution. Despite this, third-party applications remain important for users who still need more advanced tools on the video editing side.

The distribution of the update does not occur simultaneously for all users. The AI Enhance feature has started to be offered more widely to Android users. On the other hand, video playback speed control is seen in a more limited user group and is expected to become widespread gradually. In this process, device differences and regional distribution plans can directly affect the accessibility of features.

In addition, it seems that Google has been focusing more on artificial intelligence-supported editing tools recently. Magic Eraser and similar tools previously offered in Google Photos were among the early examples of this approach. The newly added AI Enhance offers an option that complements these tools by focusing on the need for faster and effortless editing.
