Nvidia released the new GeForce Game Ready driver and made a remarkable announcement. It is confirmed that the driver’s support for Windows 10 users will last until October 2026. This date coincides with a year after October 2025, when Microsoft will cut the support given to Windows 10. In other words, Nvidia saves its users a little more time before moving on to the new operating system.
Microsoft is preparing to end Windows 10 support, but millions of users still insist on this operating system. Windows 10 has a large audience despite its 10 -year history. According to Statcounter’s latest data, as of July 2025, Windows 10’s market share is still over 44 percent. The rate of Windows 11 has recently reached 52 percent.
Nvidia will continue its security updates for old graphics cards until 2028
Nvidia’s support is not limited to RTX series cards. Maxwell, Pascal and Volta architecture with older generation graphics cards were also included in this planning. A last Game Ready driver will be available in October 2025 for these cards. Then, these GPUs will continue to be given security updates until October 2028, every three months.
This decision means a positive development for users who still use their old equipment. This is usually a challenging process to provide basic security in such systems. With this support of Nvidia, a certain level of security can be maintained for a long time. Despite everything, new software features will not be added to these GPUs.
On the Cuda Toolkit side, the table is slightly different. Nvidia cuts support for these old cards with the next Cuda Toolkit update. This stands out as a significant change especially for developers. Because this means that it is no longer possible to develop Cuda -based application with old cards.
The newly released GeForce driver attracts attention not only on the software side, but also with hardware support. 62 new monitors supporting G-Sync technology are now compatible with this driver. These screens will offer a more fluent experience in games thanks to the variable renewal speed. This creates a great advantage especially for competitive players.
With this version, Nvidia also made some updates in game performance. Clair ObScur: Expedition 33 Special optimizations were provided for. Besides, expected to be released on August 8 Mafia: The Old Country Improvements were also introduced at the driver level. Such optimizations will allow them to work smoothly from the first day of the game.
These updates can be downloaded from Nvidia’s official website. New monitors supported by the driver installation are automatically recognized. For developers and game enthusiasts, such regular updates are very important to maintain the performance of their systems. Nvidia’s continuity at this level is welcomed in terms of technical stability.
