Nothing Essential Voice instantly converts speech to text

Nothing, Essential Voice launched its artificial intelligence-supported dictation tool for Phone (3). The new feature converts speech into organized text in real time, removing filler words like “um” and “um.” Thus, the keyboard is needed less when writing long messages, e-mails or short notes. Phone (4a) Pro will have the same feature at the end of this month, and Phone (4a) will have the same feature at the beginning of May.

Essential Voice comes after the rise of standalone dictation tools such as Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, Willow and Monologue. However, Nothing takes a different path here and embeds the feature directly into the phone’s software. The user can print his speech in the message field, email body or note screen without transferring the text to another application. In this way artificial intelligence powered dictation It becomes a natural part of daily phone use.

The new tool not only converts speech into text, but also edits the format of the text. In addition, the system can turn the spoken statement into a short message, an item-by-item list or a more accurate business text. Essential Voice uses artificial intelligence for punctuation and text flow. Especially users who take notes on the go, write quick messages or prepare long texts on the phone can feel this difference more clearly.

Nothing offers two paths on the access side. On models with Essential Key, dictation is started via this physical key. In other usage scenarios, the same tool is opened from the keyboard. This choice is similar to the experience of those using Superwhisper with the Action Button on the iPhone side, but Nothing positions the tool closer to the phone’s own layer.

Essential Voice converts speech into neater text

Language support is one of the most important topics of Essential Voice. Nothing states that the tool automatically detects more than 100 languages. Additionally, regional variants can be selected in languages such as English and Spanish. It also becomes possible to speak in one language and translate the text into another language. This feature offers a practical option for those who work abroad, send messages in different languages, and need quick translation.

Personal voice shortcuts also expand Essential Voice’s daily use. For example, a command like “myaddress” can insert the full address directly into the text. Similarly, special shortcuts can be created for frequently used links, canned responses, template sentences or repetitive expressions. Thus, the dictation tool becomes an assistant that adapts to personal writing habits rather than just a feature that converts speech into text.

Nothing previously featured Essential Key with its Essential Space experience. This button was used to collect screenshots, voice notes, and photos in an AI-powered space. Later, functions such as call recording, conversation transcription and summarization were also added to this area. With Essential Voice, the same button takes on the task of directly producing text as well as capturing content.

On the privacy side, the company says Essential Voice only works when the user launches the tool. It is especially emphasized that there is no continuous listening in the background. Nothing processes the audio recording encrypted on its server, sends the text it creates back to the device, and states that it does not store the text on its servers. Dictation applications that work offline, such as Google’s AI Edge Eloquent, emphasize on-device processing in the same area.

Phone manufacturers have recently been placing artificial intelligence in more visible areas such as camera, summarization, search and text editing. Nothing touches the heart of the writing habit with Essential Voice. While Phone (3) will be the first model to receive this tool, Phone (4a) Pro and Phone (4a) will join the same experience soon. Essential Voice aims to make speaking and typing on Nothing phones faster, cleaner and more convenient.
