New information has emerged about Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Elite chip

After Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a lower-end variant. The company aims to offer high performance at more affordable prices with these “s” series sub-flagship chips. Now, new information has emerged about Snapdragon 8s Elite, another “s” series chip.

According to reliable technology source Digital Chat Station, this new processor will be located between Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Gen 3 in terms of performance. This is similar to the structure where the 8s Gen 3 offers slightly lower performance than the Gen 3. However, there is no clear information about the core design of the new chip.

The first phone with Snapdragon 8s Elite processor may come from Xiaomi

It remains unclear whether the Snapdragon 8s Elite will use Qualcomm’s own custom-designed Orion cores or stick to ARM’s standard designs. However, the first smartphones powered by this chip are expected to hit the market in April 2020, according to Digital Chat Station.

Leaks also suggest that 7000 mAh capacity batteries can be used in devices with this chip. Xiaomi may be one of the first manufacturers to develop a phone powered by the Snapdragon 8s Elite chip. According to previous news, it is known that Xiaomi is working on a device that offers a 7000 mAh battery and 90W fast charging support. It is thought that this model may be the successor of the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro, which was recently introduced and works with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
