New development for affordable Snapdragon X PCs

Snapdragon X series computers, which are eagerly awaited in the technology world, are finally being released tomorrow. However, analysts state that these devices are positioned in the premium segment with high price tags. This may be a disappointment for users expecting more affordable Snapdragon X Windows devices. However, according to a reliable analyst, there is both good and bad news on the matter.

Expectations that the Snapdragon X Series will be more accessible

Ming-Chi Kuo, known especially for his analyzes about Apple, stated that they are working on a “low-cost” Snapdragon X series processor targeting middle segment users. It is reported that the code name of this new processor is Canim and it will be produced by TSMC with a 4nm design. These devices, which are expected to be between 599 and 799 dollars in price range, will be significantly more affordable than the current Snapdragon X PC prices.

However, there is good news as well as bad news for users who want to get a more affordable Snapdragon X PC. According to Kuo, the launch of the Canim processor is planned for the last quarter of 2025. This means that the new processor will meet users at a date far from the expected release window.

If it's any consolation, Kuo claims that this new processor will offer 40 TOPS of AI power, similar to the Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus models. This means that laptops equipped with this lower-cost chip will also have Copilot Plus features and specifications.

It is a matter of curiosity what features Qualcomm will sacrifice to make the Canim chip more affordable. Our prediction is that this mainstream processor may offer fewer CPU cores, a less capable GPU, withdrawn connectivity features (e.g. legacy Bluetooth and Wi-Fi standards), and/or fewer I/O options.
