Qualcomm officially introduced the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 5G chipset for medium-upper segment smartphones. Compared to the previous generation, performance, efficiency, game experience, artificial intelligence (AI), camera and sound technologies, such as improvements in many areas such as the new chip, has a design different from the previous models of the series.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is the first 6 series of chips produced by TSMC’s 4NM production process. In previous models, Samsung’s 4nm or TSMC’s 6nm production process was used. However, the first 6 series of ARMV9 -based CPU cores stands out as a chipset. The new chip contains a 2.3GHz Cortex-A720 main nucleus, three Cortex-A720 large core at 2.2GHz, and four Cortex-A520 small core at a speed of 1.8GHz. In previous generations, Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 seeds based on Armv8 architecture were used.
While CPU performance increases by 11 percent compared to the previous generation, a 29 percent improvement in graphic performance with the new Adreno GPU is provided. Although Qualcomm does not explain technical details about the new GPU, this upgrade will make a significant difference especially in mobile game performance. In addition, Snapdragon 6 gene 4 works 12 percent more efficiently than the previous model.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is equipped with various new technologies to improve the gaming experience. Adreno GPU provides more fluent and higher quality graphics, while Snapdragon Game Super Resolution technology offers up to 4K resolution in games. In addition, Adreno Frame Motion Engine doubles the square speed without increasing power consumption, providing a more fluent gaming experience.
On the artificial intelligence side, the provision of Int4 support is considered as an important development. In this way, it becomes possible that optimized AI models have more parameters in limited RAM. Qualcomm aims to ensure that artificial intelligence -based applications such as text summarizing this technology are more efficient. The company announced that there would be a minimum memory requirement for large language models (LLM) running on the device, but it did not share a definite value.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 has triple 12-bit ISPs that support camera sensors up to 200MP. The chipset can record 4K HDR video, but the square speed of this resolution is limited to 30FPS. HDR10 and HLG formats in video shooting and 10-bit Heif support on the photo side. Although the hardware acceleration H.265 and VP9 players are available, the AV1 format is not supported.
On the memory and storage side, LPDDR5 RAM up to 16 GB (up to 3,200MHz) and LPDDR4X (2,133MHz) for more cost -effective devices. UFS 3.1 support for storage.
In terms of connection features, Snapdragon 6 Gene 4 supports the 5G connection with Sub-6GHz (4 × 4 MIMO) and MMWave (2 × 2 MIMO). The chipset makes download speeds up to 2.9GBPS. With Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) support, wider bandwidth and low-delay connections can be provided. Bluetooth 5.4 and APTX adaptive support are also available. The positioning side offers three frequency GPS support, L1/L5/L2.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 Which devices will be used first?
Realme, Oppo and Honor are the first smartphone manufacturers to use the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset. Although Qualcomm does not share a definite release date, it is expected that devices with new chipset are expected to be announced in the next few months. These models, which will first be available in the Indian market, will be located in the price range of $ 100-150.
The Snapdragon 6 gene 4-based devices, which will be available in this price segment, can increase competition in the medium-upper segment smartphone market. The new chip draws attention with its advanced artificial intelligence skills, game performance and connection features. Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, especially for price/performance -oriented users, stands out as an important alternative.
