Microsoft is testing a new File Explorer feature for Android phones in Windows 11

Microsoft has begun testing a new feature in the Windows 11 operating system that will provide easier file management with Android phones. Users registered with the Windows Insider program will be able to access their Android phone’s folders and files wirelessly thanks to this new integration.

Easy access to Android phones with Windows 11 File Explorer

This new feature added to Windows 11’s File Explorer allows Android devices to be viewed as if they were a USB memory stick. In this way, users will be able to copy, move, rename and delete files between their PC and Android phones much faster and more easily. This method, which is faster than the current Phone Connection application, will make things easier for users.

To activate this feature, you need a device with Android 11 or later. You also need to be a member of the Windows Insider program and use the beta version of the Link to Windows app. The feature has been rolled out to all distribution channels of the Windows Insider program. This means that everyone using Windows 11 will soon be able to benefit from this new feature.

How to set up and use Windows File Explorer for Android devices?

To activate this new file explorer feature, you need to go to the Settings menu and enter the Bluetooth and Devices section. From here, find the Device Management option under the Mobile Devices tab and through this option you can establish a connection between the PC and the Android phone. In the warning window that opens, there is a toggle button for file explorer access and this button is activated. After these steps, you can access the files of the Android phone.

This integration will speed up file management processes and improve the user experience. Users will be able to perform their operations directly from File Explorer without needing additional applications to transfer files. This will be a great advantage, especially for users who frequently transfer files at work.

This move by Microsoft can be considered an important step towards making life easier for users by increasing Windows 11’s compatibility with Android devices. With the feature being offered to all users, we can foresee that Windows 11 and Android integration will become even stronger.
