Microsoft’s Qualcomm Snapdragon X processor’s first Surface devices have been launching less than a year, but rumors that the company can announce new generation models are on the agenda. According to Windows Central, Microsoft Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models with a smaller screen can be introduced in the spring of this year. These new devices will have 11 to 12 -inch screens, Windows on ARM operating system and lighter but “Premium” designs.
Microsoft will organize a large Surface event for the business world next week. In this event, it is expected that the current Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11 models, Intel’s new versions of Lunar Lake processors are expected to be introduced. These devices are expected to be presented as Copilot Plus models, especially designed for the business world.
According to Windows Central’s report, it remains unclear which markets will be available for smaller Surface devices. However, in these models, processors such as Snapdragon X Plus or Snapdragon X introduced in CES 2025 are expected to keep the price more affordable. The starting price of the devices will be between 800 and 900 dollars.
Microsoft will be competing with Apple’s 11 -inch iPad Pro with new Surface Pro
Microsoft’s new, smaller Surface Pro model, especially Apple’s 11 -inch iPad Pro will be positioned as a rival. However, it is not yet clear whether this model will replace the Surface GO series, which has recently been updated with a version of Surface Go 4 for the business world.
The longer battery life and strong performance supported by Qualcomm’s hardware can make these new devices more attractive than Microsoft’s previous Surface Laptop GO models. Surface Laptop Go 3, released in 2023, was criticized for his performance. However, it seems possible that these new generation devices will leave behind these criticisms with more advanced equipment.
Microsoft is expected to target both business users and individual consumers with these new devices. In particular, the increasing demand for smaller screen devices can strengthen the position of these products in the market. Nevertheless, Microsoft’s official announcements are expected for more information about which countries and when these devices will be available.
