Mercedes-AMG introduced the new member of the limited production Mythos series, CLE 646. The coupe body model produces 646 PS of power with its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. This value corresponds to 475 kW and approximately 637 hp. The company differentiates the new car not only through high power, but also through lower weight and rear-wheel drive layout.
Differentiating from the standard CLE family, the wide body, enlarged air intakes and fixed rear wing determine the appearance of the car. AMG engineers use carbon fiber parts on the hood, roof section and aerodynamic add-ons. Special rims and widened fenders also support high-speed stability. Most of the design details serve the air flow in runway use.
According to Mercedes-Benz’s official press file, the CLE 646 is approximately 170 kilograms lighter than the comparable production model. Adjustable coil spring suspension, ceramic composite brakes and performance tires complete this package. The brand states that it has rearranged the car’s electronic settings so that the driver feels the mechanical reactions more directly.
Transferring power exclusively to the rear wheels is a striking choice in the current AMG product range. While many high-power models seek the acceleration advantage of all-wheel drive, the CLE 646 emphasizes driver involvement. AMG Speedshift transmission with nine forward ratios transmits the torque of the V8 engine to the rear axle. Performance values and maximum speed information have not yet been shared for each market.
Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 expands the Mythos range
The Mythos name covers Mercedes’ low-number cars aimed at collectors. CLE 646 will not be a high-volume model on the mass production line. AMG will complete the vehicles by hand at certain stages and offer personalization options according to their limited production character. In addition, special markings on the body will indicate the position of each vehicle in the series.
To be honest, 646 PS power alone is not considered the highest value of today. However, when weight reduction, rear-wheel drive and adjustable chassis are combined in the same package, a different driving character emerges. AMG also focuses on engine response, steering feedback and track durability rather than numerical competition.
The company has not yet announced the price and production quantity. There is no information about the quota to be allocated to Türkiye. The official consumption value is given as 15.8 liters per 100 kilometers, and the combined carbon dioxide emission is 359 grams per kilometer. These figures clearly show that the CLE 646 is a special model that focuses on performance rather than efficiency.
Lightness and driver focus continue in the cabin. AMG offers racing type seats and carbon details together with luxury equipment. The main limitation for buyers will be the production quota as well as the price. In Mythos models, invitation and existing customer relationship can also affect the purchasing process. The exact delivery schedule will be announced later by country.
