MediaTek Dimensity 9400 GPU performance revealed: 86 percent more powerful than Apple A18 Pro

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor will most likely be officially revealed in October. Finally, thanks to the information shared by the famous technology blogger Digital Chat Station, important data about the graphics processing power (GPU) of this processor has emerged.

The leaked data focuses on the Dimensity 9400’s performance in the GFX Aztec 1440P off-screen Vulkan test. This widely used benchmark for mobile GPUs sees MediaTek’s next-gen chipset achieve a score of 134fps. For comparison, Apple’s A18 Pro processor achieves 72fps, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 achieves 95fps.

These figures show that MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 processor delivers a stunning 86 percent performance improvement over the A18 Pro chip found in Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro series, and it also outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 by 41 percent.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400 gets a boost with new GPU and CPU technologies

It is known that Dimensity 9400 is equipped with Mali-G925-Immortalis MC12 GPU and Arm Cortex-X925 CPU running at 3.63GHz. It is also rumored that it will offer 30 percent more GPU performance compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Developed by ARM, Immortalis G925 GPU is described as the “highest-performing and most efficient GPU” the company has ever produced. It offers the following improvements compared to Mali-G720:

  • 37 percent increase in graphics application performance
  • 52 percent improvement in ray tracing performance for complex objects
  • 34 percent increase in AI and machine learning workloads
  • 30 percent reduction in power consumption

This data suggests that the Dimensity 9400 offers a significant upgrade overall. While independent testing will need to confirm these numbers, the potential is very exciting.

On the other hand, it is known that Apple’s A18 Pro processor is equipped with a 6-core GPU and provides a 20 percent performance increase compared to the previous generation. However, this increase is insufficient in the face of the raw power offered by the Dimensity 9400, according to leaked information.

While we’re still in the early stages, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor is also expected to launch in October, and details about that chip are still under wraps. In the race for mobile GPU supremacy, MediaTek has made a bold move with the Dimensity 9400. We’ll have to wait and see how the final chips compare.
