Lenovo took a new step in laptop design by introducing the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable model at the CES 2025 event. This model can expand from 14 inches to 16.7 inches thanks to its flexible OLED screen. Expanding the screen can be done by pressing a special key on the keyboard or with hand gestures. This feature offers users a more efficient working environment by increasing the screen area by approximately 50 percent.
ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD storage. It also has Wi-Fi 7 support and a 5-megapixel webcam with an electronic privacy cover. Ports include two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The weight of the device is approximately 1.63 kg and its thickness is stated as 19.9 mm.
Expanding the screen is especially advantageous in applications that require vertical space. For example, when editing a PowerPoint presentation and making a video call, users can open both applications on top of each other for a more productive working experience.
Lenovo is also assertive about the durability of the screen. The company states that the screen’s opening and closing mechanism has been tested to work smoothly 20,000 times.
How much should you pay for Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable?
The price of ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is set at $ 3499 and the device is planned to be available in the first quarter of 2025. This innovative laptop could be an interesting option, especially for professionals looking for portability and ample screen real estate.
This move by Lenovo is considered an indication that flexible display technologies may become more common in the laptop market in the future. However, issues such as the high price tag and software compatibility are among the factors that should be taken into consideration by potential users.
