Insta360 X4 Air makes 8K 360-degree video recording portable with its light weight

Developments in camera technologies are evolving in a different direction with the increasing importance given to portability. Insta360 managed to attract attention again with the X4 Air model, one of the new representatives of this transformation. Introduced with a body weighing only 165 grams, X4 Air claims to be the lightest camera capable of recording 8K 360-degree video. Moreover, this lightness is achieved without compromising performance.

More compact than previous models, X4 Air has been improved to meet user expectations in terms of performance. The 1/1.8 inch sensors used in the device offer a 134 percent larger pixel area per frame compared to the X4 model. This increase makes a significant difference, especially in the level of detail and in videos recorded in low light. On the other hand, there is a visible improvement in matters such as color accuracy and contrast compared to previous models. In addition to all this, it becomes easier to obtain processable video material thanks to the larger pixel area.

Insta360 X4 Air withstands water up to 15 meters deep

One of the most practical advantages that the X4 Air offers to the user is that lenses can be easily changed. Lenses can be removed and installed in seconds without the need for any tools. In addition, thanks to the new optical coating, the drop resistance rate has also been significantly increased. Although the camera is structurally light, this level of durability gives the user more confidence in field conditions. In addition, the device is waterproof to a depth of 15 meters, which stands out as an important feature for those shooting in extreme conditions.

The camera attracts attention not only in terms of hardware but also in terms of ergonomics of use. Designed to be compatible with most of the accessories included in the X5 model, the X4 Air makes the transition process extremely smooth for those who already have the Insta360 ecosystem. Thanks to this compatibility, users do not have to make additional investments when switching to new equipment. The lightweight body structure maintains the portability of the device even when used with existing accessories. In addition to all this, the camera is light enough to be held with one hand for a long time, reducing the possibility of fatigue during long shoots.

The camera also offers a serious improvement on the sound recording side. Thanks to the built-in wind-protected microphone design, sound clarity is significantly increased in outdoor shooting. This structure allows clear sounds to be obtained, especially in windy areas. In addition, thanks to omnidirectional microphones, the 360-degree video experience is completed in terms of sound. This audio architecture speeds up workflow by reducing the need for additional editing during the post-production process.

X4 Air offers serious freedom to the user when it comes to image recording. Videos shot with the dual fisheye lens system can be divided into different perspectives via the Insta360 mobile application. In this way, it becomes possible to produce more than one story from a single shot. This feature is a great advantage for content creators who want to create a social media post, a vlog or a short advertising clip from the same image. In addition to all these, the automatic editing tools included in the application can make the footage ready for broadcast in a short time.

Camera; It is also equipped with advanced software features such as control with hand gestures, artificial intelligence-supported scene recognition and automatic shooting modes. With Invisible Selfie Stick support, the stick used during shooting is hidden from the image, providing more cinematic results. This feature is ideal for users who want to create an “aerial shooting” effect, especially in areas where drone access is not possible. But besides all these technological developments, there are also some limitations. The most important of these is battery life.

This ultra-light body of 165 grams naturally has a smaller battery capacity. X4 Air offers approximately 88 minutes of usage time in 8K 30fps video recording. Although the X5’s battery lasting up to 100 minutes seems a bit more advantageous in comparison, the portability of the X4 Air partially balances this difference. However, for users who shoot for long periods of time, the use of spare batteries becomes almost inevitable. Despite this, the lightness offered by the device provides great convenience in action shots.

The device is offered to users in two different color options: black and white. The X4 Air, which is currently on sale in certain regions, is expected to enter the US and Canadian markets in a short time. While the standard package is on sale for $400, the price of the Starter package, which includes an invisible selfie stick, lens cover and spare battery, is set at $440. In both options, the user is offered a 1-year Insta360+ cloud service membership and 200 GB storage space free of charge. This cloud service greatly simplifies post-shooting editing and archiving.
