Huawei will continue to focus on large-screen phones instead of compact models

Huawei continues to base its strategy in the smartphone market on large-screen devices. According to Digital Chat Station, one of the reliable leak sources, the Chinese technology giant does not plan to offer a compact model in the Mate 70 and Pura 80 series that it will introduce in 2025. Instead, it is stated that both series will come with larger screen sizes and ultra-thin frames. This may be a disappointment, especially for users looking for a compact phone.

Big screens, thin bezels and new design

According to leaked information, the Mate 70 series will appear before users with a 6.7-inch flat screen. The Pura 80 series will have a four-sided curved screen of 6.76 or 6.78 inches. Both models will offer 1.5K resolution and their screens will be surrounded by ultra-thin frames. By narrowing the frames as much as possible, Huawei aims to make the devices feel compact despite their large screen sizes. The 6.6-inch screen and slim structure of the current Pura 70 model are considered a successful example of this design approach.

On the other hand, the Mate 70 series will be introduced on November 26, and pre-orders of the device have already attracted great interest. The series, which received more than 130 thousand registrations in the first 10 hours, is eagerly awaited by users. Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro models will be available in Black, White, Green and Purple color options. While these models offer 12 GB RAM and storage options from 256 GB to 1 TB, the Mate 70 Pro+, which is in the higher segment, will come with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB or 1 TB storage.

In terms of design, the Mate 70 series offers remarkable innovation. The devices will have a large circular camera module surrounded by a gold ring. This module is designed for four different sensors: main camera, ultra-wide angle, telephoto and depth sensor. In addition, the rounded edges and curved rear panel of the device continue Huawei’s stylish design approach. However, a more prominent camera protrusion compared to previous models attracts attention.

Although Huawei aims to offer a premium user experience with large-screen devices, it may not be able to satisfy users looking for compact phones for now. Still, thanks to their thin frame designs, these devices are expected to offer both stylish and ergonomic use.
