Honor continues its efforts to increase the battery capacity of smartphones. According to the latest information from China, a new battery with a capacity of 12,000 mAh developed by the company has reached the trial production stage. Previously, capacity options ranging from 11,000 to 12,000 mAh were mentioned for the Honor Power 3, and later leaks suggested that the phone could come with a 10,000 mAh battery. The new development shows that Honor has not completely given up on its efforts at the 12,000 mAh level. However, it remains unclear for now which phone the battery in question will be used in.
According to the information provided by Digital Chat Station, known for its hardware leaks on Weibo, Honor’s new battery is currently in trial production. Although the typical capacity value that the manufacturer is expected to use in marketing materials is 12,000 mAh, the nominal capacity of the battery is stated as 11,790 mAh. The nominal energy value is 43.86 Wh. Since it is common practice for smartphone manufacturers to highlight typical capacity in battery specifications, the small difference between the two values can be considered normal. Therefore, it will not be surprising to use the phrase 12,000 mAh in the technical specifications section when the device goes on sale.
Which phone can use Honor’s 12,000 mAh battery?
The biggest unknown of the leak arises about the device in which the battery will be used. Digital Chat Station did not name a specific Honor model in its post. In the comments of the Weibo post, there are speculations that the battery may be reserved for one of the models in the Honor Win 2 family that has not yet been announced.
