Honor Magic 7 series will come with Snapdragon 8 Elite

On Wednesday this week, Honor will introduce MagicOS 9.0, but with previous information, it has been confirmed that the Honor Magic 7 series will be powered by Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

Magic 7 and MagicOS 9.0 will offer innovations such as “real-time NPU graphics processing” and “an industry-first on-device AI agent for the open ecosystem” for mobile games. So, what does this mean?

Although the official statement is not completely clear, it states that this system will use artificial intelligence (AI) to reduce the load on the GPU and thus reduce the heat and power consumption of the device. Better image quality is also promised. Whether this technology will upscale the frames processed at low resolution or create completely new frames is among the details that will become clear next week.

The name of this AI assistant will be YOYO. YOYO will be able to perform many functions from travel planning to ticket booking, from calendar adjustments to notification management. In addition to transferring files between applications, it will also be able to easily handle operations that may be annoying for users, such as canceling unwanted subscriptions.

The cancellation feature offered by YOYO is also quite advanced. More than just hitting a cancel button, it will list active auto-renewing subscriptions and let you choose which ones you want to cancel. The AI assistant will even be able to help you by ordering your favorite coffee directly to your local cafe’s order page.

Honor’s collaboration with Qualcomm is not limited to smartphones. Thanks to a technology called MagicRing, seamless integration will be provided between different devices, applications and services. But this is not a smart ring.

For example, ARM-based Windows PCs powered by Snapdragon can run an application called Cocreator, which can create detailed images from simple drawings. Thanks to MagicRing technology, Cocreator can also be accessed from tablets such as Honor MagicPad 2.

Honor Magic 7 will be introduced on October 30

The official launch of the Honor Magic 7 series will be held on Wednesday next week. For now, the first promotional video has been released, showing the new color option and four-camera system inspired by the Moon.

Honor’s Marketing Manager Dr. Ray Guo said the following about the collaboration: “With this collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, we are defining the AI-driven ecosystem and reshaping user experiences in the age of artificial intelligence. We’re excited to introduce the industry’s first open ecosystem AI agent and deliver on-device generative AI with NPU calculations in mobile games. “Welcome to the autopilot era of artificial intelligence in the mobile world.”
