It seems that HMD Global is preparing to renew its mid-segment smartphone portfolio. New leaks shared by @smashx_60 on the X platform show that the company is working on two new models named HMD C2 and HMD C2P. The emerging information indicates that both devices will be available to users with an AMOLED screen, 5G connection support and a simple Android experience. Especially the features offered on the screen and battery side seem remarkable considering the price segment of the devices.
The standard HMD C2 model has a 6.78-inch FHD + resolution AMOLED screen. It is stated that the panel, which has a perforated screen design, offers a 90 Hz refresh rate, and the highest brightness value reaches 1000 nits. On the processor side of the device, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 platform is available. While this chipset is accompanied by 6 GB of RAM, storage options are expected to be offered as 128 GB and 256 GB.
On the camera side, the 50 megapixel main sensor with electronic image stabilization (EIS) support attracts attention. In addition, it is stated that there are 2 megapixel and 0.3 megapixel auxiliary cameras. On the front, there is a selfie camera with a resolution of 50 megapixels. It is stated that the device, which is powered by a 6000 mAh capacity battery, will come with 33W fast charging support. Other features include a dual speaker system, IP54 certification, 3.5 mm headphone jack and side-positioned fingerprint reader.
HMD C2P will offer more advanced camera and display features
Positioned as the top model of the series, HMD C2P shares most of the basic hardware with the standard model. The phone also has a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor and a 6.78 inch FHD + AMOLED screen. Despite this, some improvements on the screen side stand out. While the refresh rate is increased to 120 Hz, it is stated that the maximum brightness value will reach 1500 nits. In this way, a better viewing experience can be provided, especially in outdoor use.
There are also significant upgrades on the camera side. It is stated that the C2P model will feature a 64-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). This is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 0.3-megapixel auxiliary sensor. The front camera resolution remains at 50 megapixels. While the battery capacity and charging support remain unchanged, it is stated that the device will offer stronger water and dust resistance at IP65 level. In addition, NFC support is expected to be included in this model.
According to the leak, both phones will come out of the box with Android 16-based software. In the information, the operating system is stated as “A16_Baklava OS”. On the pricing side, it is stated that HMD C2 will be positioned between 149 and 169 euros, depending on the storage option. The HMD C2P model is expected to carry a price tag of approximately 200 euros. Color options include light green, blue and lavender for the standard model; For the upper model, there are Coral, Royal Blue and Jade Green.

After the licensing process of the Nokia brand ended, it seems that HMD Global is trying to make its own brand more visible. In addition, it is noteworthy that the company focuses on price-performance focused products. While some competing models in the same price range still come with HD + resolution LCD screens, the HMD C2 series’ use of an AMOLED panel can provide a significant advantage. On the other hand, although competitors such as Honor Play 80 Plus have larger batteries, it seems that the preferences on the camera and screen side differ.
Although the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor does not offer flagship-level performance, it stands out as a sufficient solution for daily use scenarios. It is expected to offer a level of performance that can meet users’ needs in social media applications, web browsing, video watching, light gaming and basic productivity tasks. When HMD’s new C2 series is officially introduced, it may be among the notable options especially for users looking for affordable 5G phones.
