The first details about the new model that HMD is preparing to add to its affordable Aura series have emerged. After HMD Aura, introduced in 2024, and Aura 2, introduced in 2025, this time a model called Aura 2 Pro is on the agenda. According to a source who has previously shared information about HMD products, images purporting to show both the technical specifications and design of the phone have been leaked. The resulting information indicates that, despite the word “Pro” in the model name, the device will come with a hardware package close to the entry level. Since HMD has not yet officially announced the Aura 2 Pro, it should be taken into consideration that the shared features may change until the launch.
According to the leak, HMD Aura 2 Pro will have a 6.75-inch LCD screen on the front. While it is stated that this screen will offer a 90 Hz refresh rate, no clear information has been shared about the resolution yet. On the camera side, it is said that there will be a 50 megapixel main camera on the back of the phone. Although it is stated that the main camera will be accompanied by two additional sensors with a resolution of 2 megapixels and 0.08 megapixels, it remains unclear to what extent these sensors will contribute to the image quality. On the front, it is stated that a 5-megapixel camera will be used for video calls and basic selfie shots.
HMD Aura 2 Pro features focus on entry level
It is reported that the basis of the phone will be the MediaTek Helio G81 processor. While this chipset is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM, two different options are expected to be offered on the storage side: 128 GB and 256 GB. It is also among the leaked information that the internal storage can be expanded with a microSD card. It is claimed that HMD will use Android 15 Go Edition, which is optimized for lower-equipped phones, instead of standard Android on the device. This choice, when evaluated together with 4 GB RAM, shows that Aura 2 Pro will be positioned as a phone for daily communication, social media and basic application use.
It is stated that there will be a 5000 mAh capacity unit on the battery side, but the charging speed will be limited to 10W. While higher-speed charging options are becoming increasingly common in the lower price segment today, 10W support may be one of the notable limitations of the phone. In addition, it is reported that HMD Aura 2 Pro will carry an IP52 certificate and thus provide a certain level of protection against dust and raindrops. It is said that the fingerprint reader will be placed on the side of the device, and there will be Bluetooth 5.0 support on the wireless connection side. All of these features reveal that the device aims to meet more basic needs in terms of hardware.
Leaked images show that the phone may be offered in black and light blue color options called Meteor Black and Icy Blue. The use of more than one camera ring on the back may give the impression that the device has a more advanced camera system than its technical capacity. Despite this, the low resolutions of the two auxiliary cameras other than the 50-megapixel main sensor increase the likelihood that they will make a limited contribution in real use. According to the available information, the “Pro” tag does not seem to be supported by any obvious high-end features such as a more powerful processor, high-resolution screen or fast charging. At what price level HMD will position the Aura 2 Pro will be one of the main factors that will determine the value of the hardware offered by the phone in the market.
